What are the clinical manifestations of ovarian tumors?

Ovarian tumor refers to a tumor that occurs on the ovary. It can be divided into benign and malignant. It is one of the common tumors of the female reproductive system. Ovarian malignant tumor has the highest mortality rate among gynecological malignant tumors. It is also a very harmful gynecological disease that women need to be vigilant about. So what are the clinical manifestations of ovarian tumors? Let me tell you about its symptoms below.

Smaller lumps generally do not cause symptoms, but occasionally there is a feeling of heaviness or pulling pain in the lower abdomen on the affected side. The abdominal mass can be clearly felt, with a smooth surface, no tenderness, and a cystic feeling. Most benign tumors form a long stalk with the fallopian tube. Because the tumor is not adhered to the surrounding tissues, it is more mobile and can often move the tumor from one side of the lower abdomen to the upper abdomen.

Malignant tumors grow rapidly, and the lumps are often irregular and non-mobile. They may be accompanied by ascites, and systemic symptoms such as weakness, fever, and loss of appetite may appear in a short period of time.

Functional ovarian tumors, such as granulosa cell tumors, can cause symptoms of precocious puberty because they produce large amounts of estrogen. Female characteristics such as physique, breasts, and external genitalia develop rapidly, and menstruation occurs, but ovulation does not occur. Bone development may exceed normal range. The estrogen level in urine increases, and at the same time, the gonadotropin level in urine also increases, exceeding the normal rules and reaching adult levels.

Medium-sized ovarian masses with long pedicles (including retention ovarian cysts) may experience torsion of the tumor and pedicle. Once twisted, bleeding and necrosis may occur, clinically manifesting as acute abdomen. The child may have abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting. During examination, the abdominal muscles at the tumor site are tense and tenderness is obvious. The child may have elevated body temperature and increased white blood cell count. When the tumor is large, it may compress nearby organs and cause difficulty in urination and defecation.

The above are the clinical manifestations of ovarian tumors explained to you. By understanding the above symptoms and distinguishing them from the early symptoms of general cancer, I hope that female friends will have awareness of disease prevention. Many malignant tumors can be completely cured if discovered in the early stages. Early detection and early treatment have a relatively high cure rate.
