Dietary taboos in the first month of pregnancy

Dietary taboos in the first month of pregnancy

In the early stages of pregnancy, many women do not know that they are pregnant and thus ignore their dietary taboos. You must know that diet in the first month of pregnancy is very important. If you accidentally eat food that you should not eat, it will lead to miscarriage or fetal malformations. For example, many female friends usually have a regular diet, like to smoke and drink, or eat spicy and irritating foods, and many women like to drink carbonated beverages. These can cause fetal miscarriage. So in addition to these taboos, what else should we pay attention to? Let us take a look at the dietary taboos in the first month of pregnancy!

1. In the first month of pregnancy, it is better to eat well than to eat more

You only need to supplement 500 kilojoules of calories a day, which is equivalent to eating 100 grams of nuts. As long as you ensure that the food you eat contains a variety of nutrients, your diet can be based on your appetite. The principles of diet are easy to digest, less greasy and light taste. Eat more foods rich in protein, vitamins and minerals, and eat some bananas, animal offal, nuts, etc.

2. What should not be eaten

5 kinds of food can easily cause miscarriage and pregnant mothers should not eat them: aloe vera, crab, turtle, coix seed, and purslane.

Start saying no to cigarettes, alcohol and coffee.

3. How to supplement nutrition

Calcium Supplement: Foods such as milk, clams, dried fish, amaranth, hair algae, soybeans, black beans, black sesame seeds, etc. are rich in calcium. Sufficient calcium can prevent tension, headaches, leg cramps, insomnia, tooth decay, and poor development of the baby's bones and teeth.

Iron supplementation: Pregnant women should supplement iron as early as possible to prevent iron deficiency anemia and its adverse consequences. After pregnancy, the blood volume of pregnant women expands and the need for iron doubles. If you do not pay attention to your iron intake, you can easily develop iron deficiency anemia, which may also affect the fetus. Foods such as egg yolks, meat, liver, green vegetables, whole wheat bread, and whole grains are rich in iron.

Vitamin supplement: Vitamin B group, A, C, D, E, and K are essential nutrients for pregnant women. Foods like liver, wheat germ, and yeast can relieve the discomforts of pregnancy, such as nausea, headaches, insomnia, and cramps. In addition, you must eat more fruits and vegetables to prevent constipation and make bowel movements smoother.

Zinc supplementation: Adequate zinc is important for the early development of fetal organs and helps prevent miscarriage and premature birth.

Folic acid supplement: In the first month of pregnancy, pregnant mothers should strengthen their nutrition and eat more foods rich in folic acid. Fresh fruits such as cherries, peaches, plums, apricots, hawthorns, etc. are rich in folic acid. Folic acid is one of the three major hematopoietic raw materials in the human body and promotes the production of red blood cells. If folic acid is deficient in early pregnancy, it will affect the normal development of the fetal nervous system and lead to neural tube defects such as spina bifida or anencephaly. Therefore, experts recommend that women of childbearing age should supplement 0.4 mg of folic acid every day, and pregnant women should take about 1 mg per day.

4. Taboo Foods

1. Spicy food

Condiments such as chili, pepper, and Sichuan pepper are very irritating and eating too much of them can cause constipation in normal people. If pregnant women who are planning to become pregnant or are already pregnant consume a large amount of such foods, they will also experience digestive problems. Therefore, it is recommended that you avoid consuming such foods as much as possible.

2. Wine

Alcohol is an important factor causing fetal malformation and mental retardation.

3. Too much sugar

The metabolism of sugar in the human body will consume a large amount of calcium. Calcium deficiency during pregnancy will affect the development of fetal teeth and bones. Sugar is not an essential nutrient, but it can cause pregnant women to be overweight.

4. MSG

The ingredient of MSG is sodium glutamate. Eating too much can affect the absorption of zinc and is not conducive to the development of the fetal nervous system.

5. Ginseng and longan

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that most pregnant women have a deficiency of yin and blood. Eating ginseng will cause excessive qi and depletion of yin, aggravating early pregnancy reactions, edema, and high blood pressure. Longan is pungent and warm and helps boost yang, so pregnant women are prone to bleeding and miscarriage after eating it. Therefore, it is recommended that you consider carefully before consumption.

6. Pickled foods

Although this type of food is delicious, it contains nitrite, benzopyrene, etc., which are very harmful to the body.

7. Various "contaminated" foods

You should try to choose fresh and natural foods, and avoid eating foods containing food additives, pigments, preservatives, and cooked foods. Fruits and other foods should be washed before eating to avoid pesticide residues.

8. Foods containing caffeine

Women who are planning to become pregnant should avoid drinking too much coffee, tea, or other caffeinated beverages and foods. After research, some foreign experts believe that caffeine, as a substance that can affect women's physiological changes, can change the ratio of estrogen and progesterone in women's bodies to a certain extent, thereby indirectly inhibiting the implantation and development of the fertilized egg in the uterus.

9. Carrots

Carrots are rich in carotene, multiple vitamins and other nutrients that are beneficial to the human body. Gynecologists at Rutgers Medical School in New Jersey, USA, found that when women eat too many carrots, the large amount of carotene they ingest can cause amenorrhea and inhibit the normal ovulation function of the ovaries. Therefore, women who want to have children should not eat too many carrots.

10. Sunflower seeds

The protein part of sunflower seeds contains testicular inhibition components, which can cause testicular atrophy and affect normal reproductive function. Therefore, young people of childbearing age should not eat too much.

The first 3 months of pregnancy are very important. Pregnant women must pay attention to the food that they should not eat during the first month of pregnancy. Another very important point is that in the first month of pregnancy, folic acid must be properly supplemented. Folic acid will directly affect the fetal brain development and the normal operation of various body functions. Many children with congenital heart disease are caused because their mothers did not take folic acid in the first month of pregnancy. Some fetuses are deformed due to lack of folic acid.
