Can I keep a dog while preparing for pregnancy?

According to the professional advice of doctors, it is best not to keep animals during the pregnancy preparation period. Not only is it prone to toxoplasmosis infection, but the hair of pets can also easily cause allergies in pregnant women. Therefore, during the pregnancy preparation period to the first three months of pregnancy, it is best to keep the puppy in a pet store or have someone else take care of it.

Many people know that the germs on pets can infect the human body and pose a risk of fetal malformations to pregnant women. However, most people do not know that this so-called pathogen is called toxoplasmosis. Cats are the largest parasitic hosts. Dogs, cattle, humans, etc. do not spread it directly, but enter the human body through cat feces and eating uncooked beef and mutton. If a pregnant woman is infected with toxoplasmosis during the first three months of pregnancy, it is very likely to cause miscarriage, stillbirth or other congenital abnormalities. Of course, if the fetus is stable after three months of pregnancy, the impact of infection with this disease is not significant.

Doctors say that when people are infected with toxoplasmosis, they usually have a fever, and when puppies are infected with toxoplasmosis, they will become increasingly listless. If a puppy shows this condition, it is best to take it to see a veterinarian.

Therefore, during the pregnancy preparation period, just make sure to take your puppy to the hospital for examination to ensure that your puppy is healthy, and have a blood test to detect whether Toxoplasma antibodies have been produced in yourself and the dog. If the Toxoplasma antibody shows positive, congratulations, this means that you will not be infected with Toxoplasmosis in the future.

The most important thing to pay attention to in terms of diet during pregnancy preparation is nutritional combination, and to prepare for pregnancy, it is advisable to eat more foods rich in folic acid. We know that folic acid tablets are a nutrient that needs to be supplemented during both the pregnancy preparation period and the pregnancy stage. In addition to taking folic acid directly, we can actually get folic acid tablets from food. Foods with more folic acid include protein foods, kidneys, eggs, freshwater fish, etc. as well as celery, broccoli, lettuce, wild rice stem, rapeseed, greens, etc. Fruits include pears, oranges, bananas, lemons, strawberries, tangerines, etc. Noodles are also foods rich in folic acid.
