Adverse reactions to non-emergency contraceptive pills

Nowadays, women do not want to get pregnant and do not like to take emergency contraceptives afterwards because they find it troublesome. Instead, they like to take long-acting contraceptives. Although this type of contraceptive is very convenient, it can cause great harm to the body. Many female friends have experienced discomfort after taking long-acting contraceptives. So what are the common adverse reactions to long-term contraceptives?

In terms of chemical composition, long-acting contraceptives are similar to short-acting contraceptives and can be divided into three types: estrogen, progestin and estrogen-progestin combination. If any women are sensitive to its side effects, then its side effects should be the same as those of short-acting contraceptives with the same ingredients. It should be noted that since long-acting drugs need to be put into the body at one time and the amount is relatively large, there may be a certain amount of accumulation after stopping the drug. So in general, it is recommended that women who have not given birth should not take long-acting contraceptives. If you want to have a baby after taking the medicine, you should stop taking it for 3 months to half a year.

When using long-acting contraceptives, regular physical examinations should be conducted, including breast, liver function, blood pressure, and cervical scraping. If any abnormalities are found, the medication should be discontinued. Breastfeeding women can start using it at least 6 months after giving birth, and non-breastfeeding women can use it at least 6 weeks after giving birth.

The above are some of the adverse reactions of long-term contraceptives, so female friends are advised not to take contraceptives to avoid pregnancy, because it is very harmful to the body. If you don’t want a child now, you can go to the hospital to get an IUD, or take other safe and healthy contraceptive methods, so that you will not get pregnant and will not harm your body.
