What causes abnormal vaginal discharge in women?

Leucorrhea is a signal of women's health. If the leucorrhea is abnormal, it means that there is something wrong with the woman's body, which is a signal of gynecological disease. Abnormal leucorrhea refers to increased or decreased leucorrhea, leucorrhea with an odor, leucorrhea with a pus-yellow color, etc. Under normal circumstances, leucorrhea should be colorless and odorless. Therefore, if there is any abnormality in leucorrhea, it must be checked as soon as possible.

Abnormal leucorrhea refers to an increase in the amount of secretion or abnormal characteristics. Under normal circumstances, the vagina and vulva often have a small amount of secretions to keep them moist, which is called leucorrhea. It is composed of vaginal mucosal exudates, cervical glands and endometrial secretions, and contains vaginal epithelial exfoliated cells and white blood cells. Normal leucorrhea is white and odorless, and its quantity and quality are related to changes in the body's physiological condition.

If leucorrhea appears like this, it is called pathological leucorrhea. Leucorrhea is a sticky white liquid that flows out of the vagina of women. It is a mixture of secretions from the Bartholin's glands, cervical glands, endometrium, exudate from the vaginal mucosa, and desquamated vaginal epithelial cells.

Leucorrhea contains lactobacillus, lysozyme and antibodies, so it has the effect of inhibiting bacterial growth. During sexual intercourse, the amount of leucorrhea will increase, which will lubricate the vagina and facilitate sexual intercourse. Generally, the amount of leucorrhea increases during the middle of the menstrual period and becomes thin and transparent; after ovulation, the leucorrhea becomes thick, turbid and less in quantity. There is an increase in leucorrhea before menstruation and during pregnancy.

Abnormal leucorrhea can be caused not only by poor personal hygiene but also by the sexual partner's lack of attention to personal hygiene, frequent sexual intercourse or unclean sexual life.

According to the above description, abnormal leucorrhea needs attention. Therefore, women must pay attention to the hygiene of their private parts. They should wash their vulva with warm water frequently every day, and their underwear should be washed separately by hand. They should not be washed in a washing machine, and should be disinfected at high temperature or in the sun. When engaging in sexual intercourse, you should also pay attention to your partner's genital hygiene.
