What are the items in the pregnancy test?

With the continuous development of medical technology, even some couples who want to get pregnant still have to undergo some specific physical examinations before they can get pregnant. This is the way to ensure good eugenics. So let us now learn about the introduction of the pregnancy preparation physical examination items.

Main projects:

Female examination

For couples with normal fertility living together without taking any contraceptive measures, generally about 60% of them will get pregnant within one year, and about 80% will get pregnant within two years. Women who have not become pregnant within 2 years of marriage can undergo infertility testing.

Female infertility examination requires a systematic examination, including full body examination, reproductive system examination, etc. In addition to general visual examination and palpation, colposcopy and internal examination are also required to gain a preliminary understanding of the general conditions of the vagina, cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries and pelvic cavity, such as whether the size and position of the uterus are normal, whether there are any lumps or tenderness in the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries, whether there is pain when the uterus is lifted, and the mobility of the appendages.

Male examination

First, we need to check gonadotropin: gonadotropin measurement is of great value in determining the functional status of the male hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis. By observing the level of follicle-stimulating hormone, we can understand the extent of testicular development or damage. Under normal circumstances, the spermatogenesis of male seminiferous tubules is mainly promoted by the secretion of follicle-stimulating hormone from the pituitary gland. Of course, this can only be achieved when the androgen testosterone is normal, because if there is insufficient testosterone in the blood, even if the follicle-stimulating hormone secreted by the pituitary gland is normal, there will be problems with the semen. As for simple testicular dysgenesis, the worse the testicular development, the more obvious the spermatogenesis disorder, and the higher the follicle-stimulating hormone value in the serum. Chromosomal problems should be considered. Males with incomplete development of secondary sexual characteristics or sexual dysfunction with feminine manifestations, average testicular volume of less than 10 ml on both sides, higher than normal follicle-stimulating hormone, or those with developed testicles and normal secondary sexual characteristics but very few or no sperm should have further examination of autosomes. The most common chromosomal abnormality is 47,XXY. Once confirmed, there is no need for treatment because it is unlikely to be effective.

Measuring basal body temperature

The ovaries secrete progesterone after ovulation, which has the effect of raising body temperature. Taking advantage of this feature, you can measure your body temperature immediately after waking up every day and draw a temperature change line, from which you can see whether ovulation has occurred. After the menstrual period, the body temperature of a normal woman is around 36.5℃. It reaches the lowest point on the ovulation day, then rises by 0.3℃ to 0.5℃, maintains for 12 to 16 days, and then drops to a low level on the day before or on the first day of menstruation. This basal body temperature, which is low in the first half and high in the second half, is called biphasic body temperature, indicating ovulation. If the body temperature does not rise in the second half, it is called a monophasic temperature, indicating that ovulation has not occurred.

The above article has introduced some pregnancy preparation physical examination items in detail. I believe everyone has a preliminary understanding. Therefore, if you also want to get pregnant in your life, you still have to go to the hospital for a physical examination, so that you can feel more at ease.
