Comparison table of amniotic fluid index at 23 weeks of pregnancy

During pregnancy, a series of changes occur in the body of a pregnant woman, the most prominent of which is her abdomen, because the baby is still in her belly. There is also amniotic fluid with the baby, which plays a role in protecting and providing nutrition to the fetus during pregnancy. During the prenatal check-up, the amniotic fluid of pregnant women will also be checked. If the amniotic fluid index is abnormal, serious adverse effects will occur. Let's discuss with the editor below, what is the normal amniotic fluid index at 23 weeks of pregnancy?

Amniotic fluid index corresponding table for 23 weeks of pregnancy, what is the amniotic fluid index for 23 weeks of pregnancy? Everything is normal

1. Amniotic fluid index: The uterus is divided into four quadrants: upper left, upper right, lower left and lower right. The sum of the vertical depths of the larger dark areas of amniotic fluid in the four quadrants is AFL. If AFL exceeds 24cm, it is diagnosed as polyhydramnios. If AFL is between 18-24cm, it is abnormal polyhydramnios or too much amniotic fluid.

2. During a normal pregnancy, the amniotic fluid flow increases with the number of weeks of pregnancy, and begins to decrease slowly in the last 2 to 4 weeks. At full-term pregnancy, the amniotic fluid flow is about 1000Ml (800-1200ml). If the amniotic fluid flow exceeds 2000Ml at any stage of pregnancy, it is called polyhydramnios. The maximum reaches 20000Ml. For most pregnant women, the increase of amniotic fluid is relatively slow and occurs over a long period of time, which is called chronic polyhydramnios; for a very small number of pregnant women, the increase of amniotic fluid in their mothers is significant within a few days, which is called subacute polyhydramnios.

3. The specific manifestation of oligohydramnios is that the expectant mother's baby's fetal movement is very obvious, and she feels abdominal pain when the baby moves. The uterus is relatively sensitive, and examination often causes uterine contractions due to slight stimulation. The fetal heartbeat accelerated, and examination revealed that the fetal abdominal circumference and uterine height were smaller than those of the current pregnant women. Too little amniotic fluid usually causes the pregnant woman to delay the delivery process and the fetus is prone to intrauterine asphyxia. If the membrane ruptures, a small amount of viscous amniotic fluid can be seen. Oligohydramnios is sometimes difficult to diagnose and is easily overlooked. A B-type color ultrasound examination showed that the amniotic fluid of the pregnant woman was significantly reduced. Some people also suggest that the possibility of oligohydramnios should be considered whenever there is an overdue pregnancy, a high incidence of gestational hypertension, or a change in the fetus during labor and no other reasons can be found.

4. B-ultrasound examination shows the vertical depth of the largest amniotic fluid reservoir, and the amniotic fluid depth of 3-8cm is the normal amniotic fluid flow. If it is less than 3cm, it indicates that there is too little amniotic fluid, and if it is more than 8cm, it indicates that there is too much amniotic fluid. If there is more amniotic fluid, the fetus can grow happily; if there is less amniotic fluid, it can cause meconium accumulation in the early stage of delivery, and even premature birth or asphyxiation.

The above is the editor’s summary of relevant information on what is the normal amniotic fluid index at 23 weeks of pregnancy. I believe it will be of great help to everyone. During pregnancy, prenatal check-ups are an important task. Only necessary examinations can reduce the possibility of fetal diseases and deformities. I believe that with the improvement of living standards, mothers will also give their babies more appropriate prenatal check-ups, so that they can grow up to be healthy babies.
