Have you been persuaded to drink during the Chinese New Year? This type of people who drink have a higher risk of cancer

During the Spring Festival

Friends and family gather together to drink and chat happily

It’s a “good day” for many people.

But do you know?

Some people are not suitable for drinking

Drinking alcohol increases the risk of cancer

Don't ask this kind of people to drink.

Please forward this to your family and friends who love drinking!

01Is moderate drinking good for health?

A study published in The Lancet in 2018 analyzed data from 195 countries and regions and the results showed that drinking alcohol has no health benefits.

Compared with people who do not drink alcohol at all, people who drink a glass of wine a day (10 grams of alcohol, equivalent to a can of beer, 100 ml of red wine or 30 ml of white wine) will have a 0.5% increase in health risks.

It is recommended to reduce drinking as much as possible, and it is best not to drink at all. Alcohol is not only likely to cause cirrhosis of the liver, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, but is also a Class 1 carcinogen.

02Why does drinking alcohol cause cancer?

Alcohol is classified as a Class 1 carcinogen by the World Health Organization , which means it is a substance that has clear carcinogenic effects and should be avoided as much as possible.

Alcohol can increase the risk of esophageal cancer, liver cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer and other cancers .

so

Why does alcohol cause cancer?

1. Direct damage

After alcohol enters the body, it first comes into contact with the mucosa of the digestive tract, which may damage the mucosa; then, the alcohol enters the liver for metabolism, which may cause direct toxicity to liver cells.

2. Metabolite toxicity

After ethanol, the main component of alcohol, enters the body, it is metabolized into acetaldehyde by alcohol dehydrogenase, and then metabolized into acetic acid by acetaldehyde dehydrogenase and excreted from the body.

Acetaldehyde can induce gene mutation and is a clear carcinogen.

3. Hormone changes

Ethanol has effects on hormones, such as increasing estradiol levels, which may be one of the risk factors for breast cancer .

03****This kind of people drink

Higher risk of cancer!

Have you ever seen someone with a red face after drinking? Such people who drink alcohol have a higher risk of cancer!

This is because these people have acetaldehyde dehydrogenase gene defects, which means that ethanol can be metabolized into acetaldehyde, but acetaldehyde cannot be metabolized smoothly. Acetaldehyde acts on cells for a long time, which will naturally increase the risk of cancer.

Therefore, if you meet someone who blushes when drinking, don’t try to persuade him to drink!

04****How to reduce

Health effects of drinking

1. Do not drink on an empty stomach:

Since the alcohol concentration in the blood will rise rapidly after drinking on an empty stomach, you can eat some food before drinking to reduce the gastrointestinal absorption of alcohol and delay the increase of alcohol concentration.

2. Control your alcohol intake:

Drinking in moderation does not mean being good for your health. The safest dose of alcohol is 0, and it is best not to drink .

If you must drink alcohol, follow the advice of the Chinese Nutrition Society:

The daily alcohol intake for men should be limited to 25 g, and for women to 15 g.

Let’s do the math:

For red wine with an alcohol content of 12%, this means no more than 150 mL/day;

For 40% liquor, no more than 45 mL/day;

Beer should not exceed 355 mL/day.

Since women metabolize alcohol more weakly than men, it is best for them to reduce their alcohol intake by half.

New year, new hopes!

Wish you all

Happy New Year
