A few "little things" about tooth extraction

A few "little things" about tooth extraction

Tooth extraction is, after all, an invasive minor surgery that requires cooperation between the patient and the doctor. Successful tooth extraction can not only improve the patient's comfort and reduce fear, but also promote wound healing and improve prognosis; otherwise, many complications or sequelae will occur. Therefore, it is recommended that patients go to a regular medical institution for tooth extraction. Tooth extraction is no small matter!

Before tooth extraction

Since there are many contraindications to tooth extraction, if the patient is in poor health at this stage, tooth extraction should be postponed. Patients should tell their doctors in detail their medical history, such as diabetes, heart disease, allergies, etc., so that doctors can develop personalized treatment plans. Of course, it is inevitable to be nervous before tooth extraction, and patients can relieve the tension by communicating with the doctor. It should be reminded that you must eat properly before tooth extraction (but not full) to avoid collapse or fainting.

After tooth extraction

The doctor's smooth tooth extraction operation is only half successful. The patient needs to follow the doctor's instructions carefully and do the following.

After the tooth is extracted, you can stay in the hospital for half an hour for observation until the doctor confirms that the wound has stopped bleeding before you can go home. It is best to eat after the anesthesia wears off.

On the day of tooth extraction, eat soft food, liquid or semi-liquid food, preferably warm or cold. Do not eat hard or hot food, and do not chew too much.

Do not rinse your mouth or brush your teeth on the day after tooth extraction, do not suck or spit frequently to prevent bleeding or infection. Avoid smoking, drinking, and spicy food.

It is normal to have a small amount of blood in your saliva for 24 hours after tooth extraction. If bleeding is obvious, you should seek medical attention immediately.
