You never expected that your hair would be dry, frizzy and split. This is a disease!

I suffer from "fluffy hair syndrome"

Also called "uncombable hair syndrome"

0 1What is Uncombed Hair Syndrome

There are three genes in the human body that affect hair characteristics: PADI3, TGM3 and TCHH. If one of these genes is malfunctioning, the structural proteins that give hair its shape and strength will be damaged, causing the hair follicles to have a triangular, heart-shaped or kidney-shaped cross-section.

Symptoms usually become apparent between 3 months and 12 years of age, and usually improve spontaneously before puberty. The disease is characterized by diffuse thinning of hair, which is fluffy and difficult to comb, brittle and easy to break, and golden in color with a special luster.

There is no abnormality in other hair on the body. There is currently no clear and effective treatment (increasing hair length and vitamin supplementation have achieved certain therapeutic effects in some individuals).

0 2 In addition to symptoms , there are other reasons for dry and frizzy hair

Many times we describe "hair" as a plant, saying it is like "grass", "trees" or "branches", but in fact it is like a fish.

It is composed of cylindrical keratinized epithelial cells and is divided into three parts from the inside to the outside: medulla, cortex and cuticle.

Whether hair is frizzy or not is most closely related to the cuticle, which is a thin and transparent layer of keratin cells that looks like overlapping fish scales.

For smooth, healthy and soft hair, the hair scales are completely smooth, but for frizzy hair, the hair scales may be open, curled up or even broken, which can easily lead to "frizzy hair".

What causes the hair cuticle to be damaged? There are three main reasons:

1. Loss of hair keratin

Hair also has a lifespan and is in a balanced state of falling out and growing at the same time.

The main substance that maintains the life of hair is keratin in the cortex, which is a protein and an important component of hair, accounting for 65% to 95%.

As hair grows from youth to old age, the amount of keratin decreases.

If a large amount of keratin is lost, the hair will become rough, easy to break, and lose elasticity.

2. Poor external environment

Sun exposure will increase the loss of moisture in the hair and the lipids covering the hair surface will also be lost. Ultraviolet rays are particularly damaging to the hair, which can easily denature the protein and lose its original strength, making the hair rough, dry, dull and even split.

3. Damage caused by perming and dyeing

Hair is sensitive to chemicals such as boiling water, acids, alkalis, oxidants and reducing agents.

When you perm or dye your hair, you not only use chemicals, but also have to be exposed to high temperature steam for a long time. How can your hair not be damaged?

After perming or dyeing, the hair cuticles are curled up, there is a phenomenon of debonding, and some of the cuticles have slightly curled edges or are jagged. Once the cuticles are damaged, the hair is prone to a series of problems such as frizziness and dryness.

Therefore, almost everyone has the problem of frizzy hair, but the severity varies. Especially for those who often dye or perm their hair, the problem of frizzy hair is more serious.

0 3Try these tips for proper hair care

1. The water temperature for washing hair should be controlled at 30-40 degrees Celsius;

2. It is recommended to wash your hair every two or three days, massage your hair appropriately when washing it, and try to shorten the time that shampoo stays on your hair;

3. Choose a variety of shampoos and change them regularly;

4. Use conditioner after washing your hair to replenish the moisture needed by your hair, soften your hair and help reduce static electricity;

5. When buying hair care products, it is best to read the ingredient list carefully. Do not choose products with alcohol labels, such as ethanol, propanol, isopropanol, alcohol denaturants and benzyl alcohol.

6. Dry your hair before going out. Going out with wet hair will not only make you more likely to catch a cold, but also cause your hair to break.

7. Dry your hair with a towel before blow-drying it, and then apply some heat-insulating hair care products, such as hair care essential oils, to reduce the damage of hot air to hair protein, reduce hair breakage, and allow the hair care ingredients in the essential oils to penetrate into the hair;

8. Keep the hair dryer 20-30 cm away from the hair, blow the hair in sections, keep moving, use hot air first, then cold air;

9. Eat a light diet, eat less sweets, greasy and spicy foods, and control smoking and alcohol consumption;

10. Use a wooden comb or horn comb to reduce the damage of static electricity to hair;

11. Hair perming and dyeing no more than twice a year;

12. Tap or press your scalp with your fingers or comb your hair with a coarse-toothed comb every day to promote blood circulation in the scalp;

13. Try not to stay up late, get enough sleep, exercise moderately, and keep your mood happy.
