@Parents: These Olympic events are not suitable for your children!

"Did you watch yesterday's XX game?"
"Of course! Our Chinese team's performance was amazing!"

Recently, the hot topic must be the various events of the "Paris Olympics". According to the State Sports General Administration, the Paris Olympics includes 32 major events, 329 minor events, 762 competition units and a total of 19 competition days.

It is said that regular exercise can be beneficial to eye health. So, are all sports suitable for myopic children?

Children with severe myopia are not suitable for these sports

People with high myopia of 600 degrees or above should avoid strenuous sports such as diving, high jump, 100-meter sprint , etc., because these activities may increase the traction of the vitreous body on the retina, causing retinal thinning, or even retinal tears or retinal detachment.

When children play badminton , table tennis , basketball and other sports, their eyes need to keep their eyes on the moving trajectory of the ball. In this process, they can exercise the contraction and relaxation ability of the ciliary muscles of the eyes, which helps relieve eye fatigue.

At the same time, as the eyes quickly adjust the visual focus from near to far and from far to near, the child's eye adjustment ability can be enhanced.

Suitable for myopic children : outdoor aerobic exercise

Doing aerobic exercise such as jogging and cycling at the right time and taking sun protection measures can improve eye microcirculation. Good blood flow can provide the oxygen and nutrients needed by the eyes, help remove metabolic waste, and protect the health of the eyes. As long as you exercise enough, you won't be nearsighted ?

Outdoor sports can certainly promote blood circulation in the eyes and are beneficial to eye health. However, the formation of myopia is not caused by a single factor, but is affected by multiple factors such as genetics and eye habits. Therefore, in addition to outdoor activities, we should also pay attention to other aspects of eye protection. For example, avoid using your eyes at close range for a long time, maintain the correct reading and writing posture, avoid using your eyes in an environment with insufficient or too strong light, and ensure adequate sleep to relieve eye fatigue. In addition, parents should pay real-time attention to the four stages of their children's myopia development, and do a good job of "four inspections" and "one file creation" for myopia management - if you have not yet developed myopia, you should check the "hyperopia reserve"; if you have suspected myopia, you should identify it and check the "true and false myopia"; if you have already controlled myopia, you should check the risk of becoming highly myopic; if you have remedied high myopia, you should check the complications of high myopia.

Establishing a “refractive development file”

Aier Eye Hospital reminds: Children's eye functions gradually improve after birth, especially after the age of 3, their cognitive abilities are also more complete, and most children can cooperate in learning to recognize the eye chart. Parents can take their children to professional ophthalmic medical institutions for eye health examinations regularly, establish a "child and adolescent refractive development file", and continuously track and check the development of children's eyes and bodies. When there is a trend of myopia development, the relevant examination indicators will show abnormalities and issue early warnings, which can help parents detect problems early and take measures to avoid or delay the occurrence of myopia. For children who are already myopic, measures are taken to slow down the development of myopia and avoid the development of high myopia.
