What preparations are needed for pregnancy?

Giving birth to a healthy baby is what every family hopes for, so how to prepare for pregnancy is a hot topic. However, in real life, some couples know very little about how to prepare for pregnancy. The medical community has made the following suggestions on how to prepare for pregnancy.

1. Diet and lifestyle

Supplement folic acid: Folic acid is an important nutrient for preventing fetal malformation and neural tube defects. The Chinese Nutrition Society also recommends in the "Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents" that women of childbearing age should supplement folic acid 0.4 mg daily starting from 3 months before pregnancy at the latest and continue until the end of pregnancy. Intake of green leafy vegetables every day, if there is a folate metabolism disorder, the amount of folic acid intake should be increased as appropriate.

Balanced nutrition: intake of milk, fish, eggs, poultry, lean meat, etc.

Moderate physical exercise: develop good living habits, stay up late less, and quit smoking and drinking.

2. Pre-pregnancy check-up

Pre-pregnancy check-up not only refers to the check-up for women, but also includes pre-pregnancy check-up for men.

Both men and women should undergo a pre-pregnancy checkup 3 to 6 months before pregnancy. Women's pre-pregnancy checkups mainly include: general checkups (routine blood and urine tests, liver function tests, electrocardiograms, and other routine health checks), specialist checks (reproductive organs, six eugenics tests, and STD screening), and special checks (sex hormone tests, chromosome tests). Men's pre-pregnancy checkups mainly include: semen routine tests, reproductive tract tests, and STD tests.

3. Monitor ovulation period to increase the chance of pregnancy

Since the survival time of the egg is limited, grasping the timing of sexual intercourse is the key to the success or failure of conception. The egg will die about 24 hours after being discharged, and the sperm can survive for 48-72 hours after being discharged. The success rate of conception is highest if you have sex 1 to 2 days before ovulation. If you have sex too early, after waiting for three or four days, the "sperm brother" has already left with "hatred"; if you have sex too late, before the "sperm brother" comes, the "egg sister" has already died. Of course, sisters who are preparing for pregnancy can also grasp the ovulation period and increase the chance of conception by measuring basal body temperature, ovulation test strips, B-ultrasound monitoring ovulation, and detecting the progesterone level in the middle of the corpus luteum.
