Chinese medicine has a trick to relieve back and leg pain

In life, back and leg pain is a very common problem. Students and office workers sit in chairs for two to three hours a day, often protecting and tapping their waists with their hands; the elderly will have back and leg pain after walking a few steps, and sometimes need crutches to walk.

This pain can occur in the waist, buttocks, back of thighs, calves, and even radiate to the feet . In mild cases, it can cause stiffness, pain, and difficulty bending over. In severe cases, it can cause pain all night long, making it hard to sleep. Back and leg pain can cause us great inconvenience and pain, affecting our daily life and work. So how can we relieve back and leg pain? Don't worry, Chinese medicine has a trick.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, there are two main reasons for waist and leg pain: one is "pain due to blockage" and the other is "pain due to lack of nourishment" .

Sitting at a desk for a long time will cause poor blood circulation in the waist, back and legs, blocking the meridians and causing pain; or when carrying heavy objects , accidentally twisting the waist, the local blood circulation is blocked, forming blood stasis, blood stasis, blood circulation is blocked, and there is also local muscle strain, waist pain. These are all pains caused by poor blood circulation. Elderly people have liver and kidney deficiency, insufficient blood production, and cannot nourish the waist, resulting in "pain due to lack of nourishment".

Now that we understand the causes of low back and leg pain, what are some good treatments in traditional Chinese medicine?

1. Press and rub the Chengshan point : Chengshan point is a commonly used acupoint for treating low back and leg pain. This point is located in the calf. When looking for it, you can stand on tiptoe and find the end of the floating muscle on the back of the calf, and then use rotation, gentle kneading or point pressing methods. Press for 1-2 minutes each time. You can press multiple times and adjust according to your feelings and needs.

2. Press and rub Yaoyangguan : Yaoyangguan is on the back. When you put your hands on your waist and touch the high point of the lumbar iliac muscle, follow the high points of the two iliac muscles to the intersection of the posterior midline, which is Yaoyangguan. Press the tip of your thumb on the Yaoyangguan point and rub it in a clockwise direction for 50 to 100 times. The strength is generally from light to heavy and then back to light.

3. Press and rub the Weizhong acupoint : The location of the Weizhong acupoint is very easy to determine, at the midpoint of the popliteal crease. When pressing and rubbing, the force should be even, gentle, and penetrating, so that the force reaches the deep local tissue, preferably with a sore feeling. Press and rub once in the morning and evening, each time for 3 to 5 minutes, and alternately press and rub the Weizhong acupoints on both sides.

If the following situations occur, go to the hospital for treatment immediately:

1. Low back pain after falling or falling from a height, accompanied by inability to control urination and defecation, and weakness in legs and feet;

2. Low back pain accompanied by red urine, vulvar pain, or accompanied by urinary urgency, urinary pain, and fever;

3. Low back pain and waist stiffness when standing up after getting up or sitting for a long time;

4. Low back pain accompanied by long-term fever;

5. Osteoporosis patients experience unrelieved low back pain;

6. Women may also experience low back pain, a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen, abnormal leucorrhea, etc.
