How much weight gain is normal during the third trimester of pregnancy

One person eats for two, so that the baby can develop stronger and supplement more nutrients, so that the child can win at the starting point in the mother's womb. It is inevitable that pregnant mothers will eat more. As the fetus grows, pregnant mothers are more and more afraid to step on the scale. Their weight keeps rising sharply. They look at themselves in the mirror and worry whether they can return to their previous shape and weight after giving birth.

If you consume too much food during pregnancy, some of the food that has not been consumed will be converted into fat, which will accumulate in the mother's body and make her gain weight easily.

A pregnant mother asked: How much weight gain during pregnancy is appropriate?

According to normal weight gain during pregnancy, the best value is 15kg~14kg.

The fetus weighs about 3.4kg, body fat about 3.3kg, uterus and breast about 1.5kg, blood about 1.3kg, interstitial fluid 1.7kg, amniotic fluid about 0.8kg, embryo 0.6kg, a total weight of more than 12.6kg. For slightly overweight pregnant women, the weight will increase by 2-3kg on top of this standard value.

How much weight gain is optimal for pregnant women during pregnancy?

First of all, pregnant mothers should measure their body mass index (BMI)

BMI=weight (kg)/height*2 (m)

For example: if you weighed 53kg before pregnancy and are 1.65m tall, your BMI is 53kg/(1.65*1.65)=19.46

If the BMI is lower than 19.8 before pregnancy, the weight gain during pregnancy is 12-18 kg;

If the BMI is between 19.8 and 26, the weight gain during pregnancy should be 11 to 16 kg;

If the BMI is between 26.1 and 30, weight gain during pregnancy should be between 7 and 11 kg.

Weight gain during pregnancy varies from person to person and is closely related to the physical fitness of the pregnant mother. Especially for pregnant mothers who are pregnant with their first child, it is enough to have appropriate nutrition, not too much, so as not to make the baby overweight.

The first three months of pregnancy are the most painful three months for pregnant women. Morning sickness and physical discomfort affect the appetite of pregnant women. The weight gain in the first three months is not obvious, and there is even a situation of negative weight gain. During this period, the weight gain is about 3~4.5kg. The 4th to 7th month of pregnancy is the time when the most weight is gained, about 6 to 15 kg. Doctors recommend that weight gain should be controlled within 0.5kg. If the weight gain exceeds 0.5kg in a week, it may be edema, and it is recommended to go to the hospital for examination.
