Is insomnia a distress signal from the lungs? What other symptoms may indicate lung disease?

Science Fiction Network, December 28 (Jin Kaiyi) People can sleep through the night, but if you always wake up after 3 a.m., or always have insomnia and can't fall asleep, even though you feel very tired and need to rest, you can't fall asleep. It may be caused by lung problems. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that after 3 a.m., the body is managed by the lungs. If you interrupt your sleep during this time period, it is a sign of lung problems.

The lungs are known as the first protective umbrella of the body's organs, and can filter out various viruses and bacteria in the air. The conversion of oxygen and carbon dioxide is completed through the lungs. If the lungs are diseased, it will directly affect breathing.

Insomnia may be caused by lung disease. Especially in chronic lung diseases, patients' lung function is reduced, so ventilation and air exchange will be affected, causing insomnia symptoms. Patients with lung diseases will also experience skin itching symptoms. If the itching is severe, it will also cause insomnia. In addition to insomnia, there may also be symptoms such as difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, coughing, fever, chest tightness, chest pain, etc., especially after activities, these symptoms will be more severe.

If there is a disease in the lungs, when you sleep, especially when you sleep on your stomach, due to the increase in lung pressure, you will obviously feel chest tightness and body weakness, and sometimes even abnormal sweating due to poor breathing.

In daily life, coughing is very common and is most likely to be ignored by people. When there are too many toxins in the lungs and they cannot be excreted from the body, coughing often occurs. Intermittent coughing during sleep at night or constant coughing may be a manifestation of lung disease and should be taken seriously.

Chest pain is one of the hidden symptoms of lung cancer. 25% of early-stage lung cancer patients will experience chest tightness and pain, especially during the day, just like normal people, but at night, the chest becomes uncomfortable and even makes it difficult to fall asleep. If left untreated, it will develop into persistent dull pain. Once the condition worsens, stabbing pain will occur, and the pain will even radiate to the shoulders, back, ribs and other parts.

There are many types of lung diseases, the more common ones are asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer, etc. If you feel that there is an obvious abnormality when you sleep, it may be that your lungs are sending you a "distress signal".
