IDC: Huawei will dominate China's foldable phone market in Q2 2024, accounting for 41.7% of sales

According to the latest report from International Data Corporation (IDC), China's foldable phone market achieved significant growth in the second quarter of 2024, with a year-on-year growth rate of 104%. Among them, Huawei, with its excellent product strength and innovative technology, dominated the market with 41.7% of sales, and its market share was almost twice that of the second-ranked vivo .

Huawei's leading position is due to its two flagship products, Mate X5 and Pocket 2. These two devices are not only equipped with Huawei's self-developed Kirin chips, but also equipped with advanced satellite connection functions, providing consumers with an unprecedented user experience.

Meanwhile, vivo has also carved out a niche in the market with its ultra-thin-design X Fold3 and Snapdragon 8Gen 3-powered X Fold3 Pro, both of which have already gone on sale before the start of the second quarter.

Between April and June 2024, sales of various forms of foldable devices in the Chinese market reached 2.57 million units. Although this figure is higher than the same period last year and the first quarter of this year, it is still lower than the market peak at the end of 2023.

As consumers' interest in foldable phones grows, sales of foldable phones are expected to continue to grow both month-on-month and year-on-year in the third quarter.
