Posture management of hemiplegic patients

1. Supine position :

1. The bed must be as flat as possible

2. The head should be fixed on the pillow and can be moved flexibly

3. Shoulder joint on the hemiplegic side: fixed on the pillow

5. Upper limb on the hemiplegic side: fix it on the pillow and straighten it at a 90-degree angle to the trunk; straighten the elbow, wrist and knuckles as much as possible

6. Hemiplegic hip: fixed on the pillow; hemiplegic upper limb also placed on the same pillow

7. Keep your toes pointed upward to prevent foot drop. Do not let the soles of your feet touch anything.

2. Lying position on the affected side :

1. The bed must be as flat as possible

2. The head position should be relatively fixed

3. Lean your torso slightly backward and place a pillow behind your back and head to secure it.

4. Shoulder joint on the hemiplegic side: forward extension and internal rotation

5. Upper limb on the hemiplegic side: Place your hand on a small table next to the bed at a 90-degree angle to the trunk; straighten your elbow as much as possible with your palm facing upward

6. Hemiplegic lower limb: knee slightly bent, hip straightened

7. Healthy upper limb: Place it on your body or pillow

8. Healthy lower limb: Keep stepping posture and place on pillow; knee and ankle joints slightly flexed

3. Healthy side lying position:

1. The bed must be as flat as possible

2. The head should be fixed and in a straight line with the torso

3. The trunk is slightly tilted forward

4. Shoulder joint on the hemiplegic side: stretch forward

5. Upper limb on the hemiplegic side: Place it on the pillow at a 100-degree angle to the trunk

6. Lower limbs on the hemiplegic side: bend the knee joint and hip slightly; place the legs and feet on the pillow

7. Healthy upper limb: The patient sleeps as comfortably as possible

8. Healthy lower limb: straighten knee and hip

4. Sitting position on bed :

1. Make the bed as flat as possible and place a pillow on the patient's lower back.

2. Head: Do not fix it, it can move freely

3. Trunk: Straighten

4. Hips: 90 degrees of flexion, weight evenly distributed on both sides of the hips

5. Upper limbs: Place on an adjustable table with a pillow on top

5. Sitting in a chair or wheelchair:

1. Place a pillow on your lower back

2. The patient extends both hands forward, places his elbows on the table, and changes his hands to the correct position

3. Place your feet flat on the ground or on a flat bench
