Canalys: China's smartphone shipments reached more than 100 million units in the second quarter of 2018

The report shows that China's smartphone shipments reached more than 100 million units in the second quarter, an increase from 91 million units in the first quarter.

Among them, Huawei's market share in China reached 27%, which is the largest share created by a Chinese smartphone manufacturer since 2011. It has increased significantly compared with the 21% market share in the second quarter of 2017.

OPPO and vivo ranked second and third respectively. OPPO's share in the second quarter increased slightly from the second quarter of 2017 to 21%, while vivo's increase was larger, up 30%. The gap between it and OPPO is narrowing.

Xiaomi and Apple ranked fourth and fifth respectively, with Xiaomi's market share in China being 14% in the second quarter.

Overall, the top five mobile phone manufacturers accounted for 90% of shipments, up from 73% a year ago, leaving less and less room for other mobile phone manufacturers. Canalys analysts said that Huawei's brand Honor accounted for 55% of Huawei's shipments in the second quarter of 2018, up from 33% a year ago. Honor has successfully entered the high-end market above $500 with its latest flagship model, while it continues to compete with rivals such as Xiaomi in the mid- and low-end fields for market share.
