Canalys: Global tablet shipments are expected to reach 182.5 million units in 2013, accounting for 37% of PC market share

Canalys's previous survey predicts that the global PC market (desktop, notebook and tablet) shipments will exceed 500 million units this year, or more precisely 493.1 million units, a 7% increase over previous years. Tablets still show strong development potential, with shipments expected to reach 182.5 million units, accounting for 37% of the PC market share, a 59% increase over previous years.

In addition, Canalys also made predictions about the market share in the next four years, indicating that the desktop and notebook markets will further shrink, and the tablet market will become the core driving force for the development of the PC industry. In 2017, tablet shipments will reach 456 million units, an increase of 25.7% in market share compared to 2013.
