Say no to influenza, disease control experts give you some advice

The transition from autumn to winter is also the peak season for respiratory infectious diseases such as influenza!

Influenza is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused by influenza virus, and all kinds of people are generally susceptible to it .

As winter approaches, the risk of clustered respiratory epidemics such as influenza occurring in crowded places such as schools, childcare institutions, and collective units increases significantly.

In order to better prevent influenza, the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention reminds the general public to enhance their awareness of disease prevention and pay attention to the following things:

1. Adhere to good personal hygiene habits under the normalization of epidemic prevention and control, such as wearing masks, washing hands frequently, keeping a distance of one meter, avoiding gatherings, covering the mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing, and other prevention and control measures.

2. Children, the elderly and other people with low immunity should try to avoid going to crowded public places; avoid contact with patients with influenza-like cases , and wear masks if contact is necessary.

3. Pay attention to weather changes, add or remove clothes as the temperature changes to avoid catching a cold. When the air quality is good, open windows for ventilation and keep warm. Get enough sleep, eat a healthy diet, and exercise moderately .

4. Influenza vaccination is currently the most effective means of preventing influenza, and can reduce the risk of contracting influenza and developing serious complications .

On September 13, 2022, the influenza vaccination work was fully launched, and free vaccination was provided to Beijing residents aged 60 and above, students in primary and secondary schools, secondary vocational schools, technical colleges, and emergency support personnel for major events. To facilitate vaccination for the general public, each district has set up free and self-paid influenza vaccination sites, and citizens can choose to make an appointment for vaccination nearby.

5. Avoid attending classes or work while sick . If you have flu-like symptoms, please seek medical treatment at the nearest medical institution according to your condition and wear a mask when you go to the hospital.
