Many cataract patients have such questions before the operation: What should I pay attention to when undergoing cataract surgery? What examinations will be done before cataract surgery? Let's hear what Sun Ming, deputy chief physician and director of the Cataract and Presbyopia Department of Aier Eye Hospital affiliated to Wuhan University, has to say. 1. What precautions should be taken before cataract surgery? First of all, you need to maintain a good physical condition and avoid colds, chills, etc., so as not to affect your postoperative recovery. At the same time, keep blood pressure and blood sugar within the standard range. During the period before the operation, remember to use antibacterial eye drops as prescribed by the doctor; get enough sleep and eat a healthy diet, especially the night before the operation. Eat a healthy diet on the day of the operation and avoid overeating or eating irritating foods. In addition, on the day of the operation, try not to wear makeup, keep your face and hair clean, wear light and comfortable clothes, and avoid wearing high collars, pullovers, etc. Paying attention to these matters before cataract surgery and taking good preoperative precautions can effectively avoid adverse factors, help yourself perform the surgery better, and restore clear visual quality after surgery. 2. What examinations will be done before cataract surgery? Before cataract surgery, we need a complete set of professional and standardized preoperative examinations to determine your eye condition and customize your surgical plan. There are more than 20 routine preoperative examinations for cataract surgery, which are mainly divided into three categories: 1. Examinations to clarify the diagnosis and surgical indications, such as visual acuity measurement, intraocular pressure measurement, comprehensive optometry, slit lamp microscopy, and fundus examination; 2. Examinations to exclude surgical contraindications, such as electrocardiogram, blood routine, urine routine, lacrimal duct irrigation, corneal endothelial cell count, eye B-ultrasound, etc. 3. Clarify the surgical plan and the selected artificial lens examination, such as: eye biometry, eye AB ultrasound, etc., to understand the patient's eyeball length, corneal curvature, astigmatism, etc., so as to select the appropriate artificial lens. If you choose femtosecond laser cataract surgery or refractive intraocular lens implantation surgery, there are also some examination items, such as: optical coherence tomography, ocular surface comprehensive analyzer and visual quality analysis examination. Through the above comprehensive examination, we can understand the patient's eye and body conditions, so as to customize a personalized surgical plan. The night before the examination, we should let the eyes get enough rest. On the day of the examination, keep the eyes clean and do not apply eye makeup or spray volatile items such as perfume. |
