I eat a lot at every meal, so why do I still suffer from stomach problems?

A netizen asked: I was diagnosed with a gastric ulcer during a physical examination a while ago, but I usually pay attention to my diet and eat a lot at almost every meal. Isn't it because I am often hungry that I get a gastric ulcer?

Gastric ulcer refers to a condition in which some factors cause gastric acid and/or pepsin to self-digest the gastric mucosa, resulting in mucosal defects.

There are many factors that cause gastric ulcers, the most common of which are Helicobacter pylori infection, stimulation from non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, and irregular diet.

Therefore, many people think that if you are often hungry and there is little food in your stomach, then the gastric acid and pepsin will have to digest the gastric mucosa. Over time, it will definitely be easy to get gastric ulcers.

It is true that being hungry often is a cause of stomach ulcers, but always eating very full can also cause stomach ulcers.

Because eating too much will promote the secretion of gastrin, which in turn produces gastric juice to digest large amounts of food.

Over time, this can cause serious consequences: the gastric mucosal epithelial cells need to constantly execute secretion commands, they can easily become overworked and have their lifespan shortened, and they need to be repaired every two or three days, which can lead to incomplete gastric epithelial tissue.

Therefore, if you want to protect your stomach, you should not be hungry often, and you should not always eat too much. Eat when it is time to eat, and eat until you are 70% full at each meal.
