Is there any disease associated with frequent urination at night? How to relieve frequent urination at night?

It is normal to get up at night to go to the bathroom, but if the frequency is particularly frequent, you should consider whether it is due to excessive water intake before going to bed, or a problem with the body organs. So what disease may cause frequent urination at night? How to relieve it?

Is there any disease that causes frequent urination at night?

Under normal circumstances, people usually urinate 0 to 2 times at night, and the total amount of urine at night fluctuates between 300 and 750 ml, usually not exceeding 750 ml. The number of urinations during the day is usually 4 to 6 times.

Nocturia generally refers to urination between 8pm on the previous night and 8am on the next morning.

Nocturia has two meanings. The first meaning is that the number of times you urinate at night is more than 2 times. The second meaning is that the total amount of nocturia exceeds 750 ml.

Increased nocturia may be caused by:

① Drinking a lot of water or a lot of beer, soda, or carbonated drinks such as Coca-Cola before going to bed.

② Kidney lesions lead to renal damage and renal dysfunction: Common diseases include chronic glomerulonephritis, chronic pyelonephritis, hypertensive nephropathy, diabetic nephropathy, gouty nephropathy, renal artery sclerosis, etc.

③ People who suffer from insomnia at night, are nervous when sleeping, have neurasthenia, and pregnant women whose uterus gradually grows larger as the fetus presses on the bladder. As long as there is a little urine in the bladder, it will remind you to urinate or you will have an increase in habitual nocturia.

④ Various reasons lead to pleural effusion, abdominal effusion, systemic edema or local limb edema, and various reasons lead to heart failure. When you sleep at night, because you lie flat on your back, the water accumulated in these parts will return to the blood circulation, causing increased blood flow to the kidneys and increased nocturia.

How to relieve frequent urination at night

Nocturia refers to urinating more than twice at night and the urine volume exceeds 1/2 of the total urine volume for the day.

The reasons for increased nocturia may be physiological or pathological. The physiological reasons are mainly drinking too much water or eating a lot of fruits and vegetables with high water content. In this case, if you have frequent nocturia, you need to control the amount of water you drink before going to bed.

Pathological polyuria mainly includes polyuria caused by diabetes and hyperthyroidism. Nephritis, prostatic hyperplasia and urinary tract infection may all cause increased nocturia. The specific cause requires urine analysis and, if necessary, color Doppler ultrasound examination of the urinary system.

To relieve nocturia, the cause must be identified first. For older men, prostate hyperplasia is the first choice, while for young women, urinary tract infection is the first choice. Once the cause is identified, symptomatic treatment can be given.

What to do if you often get up at night to go to the bathroom

If you get up frequently at night, you should consider whether your bladder is sub-healthy. The bladder's urine storage function is reduced, so a little urine will stimulate you and cause you to urinate, which makes you unable to fall asleep.

Generally, in the early and late stages of pregnancy, the uterus stimulates the bladder, which can also lead to an increase in the number of times you get up at night. This is a normal phenomenon.

If you are not pregnant, and you get up frequently at night, it is mostly due to sub-health. You should exercise more to improve your sleeping environment. People who work with their brains should increase their exercise and strengthen their physical exercise!
