What kind of native dog is the best? How long is the life span of a rural native dog?

Native dog, scientifically known as Chinese native dog, is the oldest dog in China. It has a long history of survival and is very human-like. It is especially common in rural areas. It can guard the house and is easy-going. Native dogs are not divided into different types of dogs. Now many people like to raise native dogs. So what kind of native dog should we choose?

What kind of dog is best?

First, look at the dog's coat color. The health and nutritional status of a dog can be seen from its coat color. If the coat is shiny and smooth, it means that the dog is healthy and has a balanced nutrition. Another thing to look at is the nose. If the nose is moist, it means that the dog is healthy.

Among native dogs, those with erect ears are usually large dogs. There are basically no large native dogs with curled ears. Ordinary large native dogs look very similar to German Shepherds, but there are big differences in appearance, personality and diet.

Curly-eared dogs are usually small dogs, mostly white and yellow. They are also good at guarding the house. Generally, short-legged, short-haired, no taller than 50 cm, and no taller than 80 cm are the best.

Secondly, look at the dog's personality. If it is shy and introverted, it is not suitable for guarding the house. You should choose a native dog with an extroverted and bold personality, which is suitable for guarding the house.

Finally, you should choose the kind of local dog that “good dogs don’t bark”. Some local dogs will not bark when you walk in front of it, but if you approach it, it will bark at you to warn you to stay away from its owner’s home.

How many years does a rural dog live?

Rural dogs have a natural life span of about 10 to 15 years. For a dog, 7-8 years old is basically equivalent to about 60-70 years old for humans, and it has entered old age.

There is a saying in the countryside that "old dogs become spirits". Dogs that are too old should not be kept anymore because they may harm people. Therefore, some dogs are sold or killed when they are about 7-9 years old, because people are afraid that the dogs will live too long and harm the family. Others may get sick.

Is the native dog easy to raise?

1. Not picky about food. He would eat the leftovers at home as long as they were put in a bowl. He would never give up steamed buns just because he had meat. He would also feed him any leftovers from the neighbors and he would eat them all.

2. Strong gastrointestinal resistance. For pet-grade dogs such as Teddy or Golden Retriever, changing the main food should be done with caution. Because their stomachs are spoiled, they will have diarrhea if they are not careful. But it is different for local dogs. Their gastrointestinal resistance is very strong. They can eat expired ham sausages, spoiled sausages or meat at home. Because they have adapted to the air of China by nature, they are resistant to all foods.

3. Strong memory. You can recognize roads and people, even if you haven’t seen someone for a long time, you can basically tell it’s you just by smelling it.

4. Very courageous, but won't run too far. In rural areas, local dogs generally don't walk on unfamiliar roads, and often squat at the gate of their own home. Therefore, local dogs are called guard dogs in rural areas.
