Why do cars generate static electricity? How to solve the problem of static electricity in cars

In autumn and winter, the weather is getting drier and drier, and the human body is more likely to generate static electricity. If you touch the car body or other metal objects, you can easily get an electric shock. Static electricity is relatively dangerous, especially when refueling, static electricity can easily cause a fire. So how do you solve the problem of static electricity in your car?

Why does a car generate static electricity?

There are two main reasons for the generation of static electricity in cars: First, the human body already carries static electricity, which is naturally discharged when it comes into contact with the metal parts of the car. People with different physiques carry different amounts of static electricity. Some people have very special physiques and are prone to storing frictional electricity. Second, during driving, the friction between the surface of the car and the air will also generate electricity, and discharge will occur when people come into contact with the car.

In addition, when a vehicle is parked for a long time, a lot of dust accumulates on the metal surface of the vehicle body, and friction between them will also generate static electricity.

How to solve the problem of static electricity in cars

1. Try to use less chemical fiber fabrics in the car. Chemical fiber fabrics are the main culprit of static electricity in cars, especially in winter. If you replace them with genuine leather products, it will not only reduce static electricity, but also make your car more textured.

2. Increase the moisture of the owner's skin. The human body is also charged. In dry seasons, drink more water and apply moisturizer or lotion to increase the moisture of the skin, which can also reduce static electricity.

3. Try to open the car's circulation as little as possible. The circulation in the car will cause the air to be dry, so car owners should open the windows more often to breathe fresh air.

4. Cover the dashboard with a wet towel and wash the car frequently. Increasing the humidity of the air can reduce the generation of static electricity, which is a direct and simple method.

Here are two more local methods:

1. Before getting in the car, touch the key to the surrounding iron railings or other objects connected to the ground. Note that the remote control key cannot be used.

2. When getting off the car, push the side glass of the door instead of pushing the metal frame to close the door. Glass is an insulator and does not generate static electricity.

Is static electricity in cars dangerous?

Static electricity in cars is dangerous, especially when refueling at a gas station, as it can cause fires.

To eliminate static electricity when refueling, you can first eliminate static electricity on the metal keyboard of the gas pump, or touch the static discharger on the gas pump, and then touch the gas pump gun after the static electricity is eliminated.

During the refueling process, do not repeatedly adjust your hair, synthetic fiber clothing, etc. to reduce the generation of static electricity, and do not get back into a car that is filled with static electricity.

Do not pull out the fuel gun immediately after refueling, as a large amount of residual oil droplets on the fuel gun may also cause a fire.
