How to distinguish between retrograde menstruation and nosebleed

The commonly said "reverse menstruation" is a folk name. In clinical medicine, reverse menstruation refers to the occurrence of vaginal bleeding half a year after menopause. This condition is more common in cervical cancer and endometrial cancer. Therefore, it is necessary to screen for cervical cancer and perform B-ultrasound to understand the thickness of the uterine wall. If the endometrial thickness exceeds 5mm, a diagnostic curettage is recommended to remove lesions in the uterine wall. So what is the difference between retrograde menstruation and nosebleed?

The key location of nosebleeds is in the nasal mucosa, especially in the capillary plexus in the nose area just below the nasal septum cartilage. If the capillaries in the plexus rupture, nosebleeds can occur. What situations are very easy to crack? In women, especially during the menstrual cycle, the change of female hormones in the body can cause the elasticity of capillaries to increase, making bleeding more likely. Therefore, during the menstrual cycle, especially in the early stages of the menstrual period, nosebleeds are very likely to occur, which is related to what ordinary people usually call retrograde menstruation. Therefore, if nose bleeding occurs in the early stage of menstruation, don't worry. You can press the tip of the nose in the same direction with your thumb for 5-10 minutes to promote blood circulation.

There are two types of retrograde menstruation. One is nosebleed during menstruation, which is commonly known as retrograde menstruation. The other is vaginal bleeding one year after menopause.

Nosebleeds during menstruation are medically known as compensatory menstruation. In addition to vaginal bleeding, there will also be a small amount of bleeding from the nose and mouth. The duration varies, and it often occurs one to two days before the menarche or during the menstrual period, and has a cyclical period. Generally speaking, the bleeding from retrograde menstruation is not excessive and will not cause a serious impact on your health, so don't worry. If it is mild, you can leave it untreated, because it may not always occur and sometimes it can disappear on its own without treatment. If the menstrual flow is heavy and the menstrual period lasts for a long time, it is recommended that girls go to the ENT department of the hospital for examination and treatment. According to traditional Chinese medicine, women who have reverse menstruation all have internal heat in the liver and an irritable temperament.

Vaginal bleeding occurs again one year after menopause, which is also called retrograde menstruation. This kind of situation is relatively dangerous, mainly caused by endometrial cancer and cervical cancer, and some of them are local bleeding caused by senile vaginitis. Therefore, once you encounter this kind of situation, you must pay great attention to it and go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible. It is recommended to check the female secretions to rule out senile vaginitis, and to screen for cervical cancer to understand whether the cervical epithelial cells are infected with high-risk HPV, whether there are epithelial cell diseases, and even to rule out cervical cancer.
