Is NT the same as B-ultrasound?

Is NT the same as B-ultrasound?

Pregnant women need to have a physical examination throughout the pregnancy. Generally, B-ultrasound needs to be done several times, usually to see how the baby is growing and developing. NT can be checked during the B-ultrasound examination, but the two are different, and the examination items and times are different. The following will explain to you the differences between B-ultrasound and NT.

1. Is the NT examination for pregnant women the same as B-ultrasound?

1. The inspection items are different

The NT test is mainly a scan of the fetal nuchal translucency, which is used to assess whether the fetus in early pregnancy may suffer from malformations. The B-ultrasound examination in the early stage of pregnancy is mainly used to determine the development status of the baby and whether there are any abnormalities (ectopic pregnancy, etc.).

2. Inspection time is different

The timing of NT testing is relatively strict. Doing it too early or too late will affect the test results. It is usually carried out between 11 and 14 weeks of pregnancy. The time for B-ultrasound examination in early pregnancy is not so strict. Generally, it can be checked from 6 to 12 weeks of pregnancy.

3. Different inspection frequencies

The NT test only needs to be done once during the entire pregnancy. If you miss the test time, there is no need to do it again. The B-ultrasound examination needs to be performed at least 3 times during the entire pregnancy. Moreover, there is no saying that ultrasound examination is meaningless if you miss the time. Because NT examination and B-ultrasound examination have different examination items and purposes, no one is more comprehensive than the other. In fact, these two tests are very important pregnancy check-up items in the early stages of pregnancy.

2. All normal ranges of NT

1. The NT value (neck translucency) refers to the thickness of the fluid accumulation in the subcutaneous tissue fluid behind the fetus's neck. When the neck translucency is greater than or equal to 2.5mm, it can be considered as thickening of the neck translucency. The degree of thickening of the neck translucency is closely related to fetal abnormalities. The more obvious the thickening of the nuchal translucency, the higher the chance of fetal abnormality and the more serious the degree of abnormality.

2. If repeated accurate measurements are higher than the standard value, it is recommended that the expectant mother undergo amniocentesis to check the sex chromosomes. Check the Down's test to see if there are any abnormalities. To eliminate deformed fetuses. Most of the thickened NT will naturally disappear by 20 weeks of pregnancy. Generally, the NT value test is performed between 11 and 13 weeks of pregnancy. Generally speaking, ultrasound examination is more accurate. If the NT value is >0.3cm, amniocentesis is required to further rule out fetal malformations.

The above is the relevant health education knowledge about NT and B-ultrasound. In fact, the two are different. B-ultrasound needs to be done 5 times during pregnancy, and NT is generally done once. The examination times are different. They are both very important physical examinations. If problems are found during the examination, they can be properly dealt with. Pay attention to rest and maintain a good attitude.
