Pain when pressing breastbone in women

Sternum tenderness refers to the fact that there is no symptom under normal circumstances, and there is only pain when pressing the middle area of the shoulder blade with your hand. In this case, the chest is just felt to be stressed, which is not a symptom of sternal tenderness. So why does a woman feel pain when her shoulder blade is lightly pressed? What symptoms will occur? Let’s learn about it below.

Why does a woman's shoulder blade hurt when she presses it lightly?

The main reasons for the pain in the shoulder blade are as follows:

1. Traumatic injury may cause fractures of the sternal manubrium and scapula, and some parts may also be painful.

2. Scapular tenderness is the main clinical symptom of sepsis, which is manifested as tenderness at the lower end of the scapula and the level of the 4th and 5th ribs. In addition, malignant myeloma and myeloproliferative diseases can also cause tenderness in the shoulder blade area.

3. Diseases of the lungs, esophagus and mediastinum can cause referred pain in the scapula, and there may also be a sense of pressure on the surface.

4. Costochondritis is manifested by swelling and tenderness at the junction of the shoulder blade and ribs, which is common in women over 40 years old. Pressing the shoulder blade lightly can cause the axis of the sternocostal joint and may also cause pain.

5. Osteomyelitis or tuberculosis in the scapula can also cause local tenderness, but it is relatively rare.

There is pain below the shoulder blade, which is the shoulder blade area between the fourth and fifth ribs. It is one of the main clinical symptoms of sepsis, especially acute leukemia. It can also be seen in malignant lymphoma and myeloproliferative disorders, but the latter two are relatively rare.

Precordial pain is often seen in clinical medicine. It refers to pain between the neck and the lower part of the diaphragm (the center or side of the chest). The pain characteristics can be varied. It is one of the common symptoms and is usually caused by chest diseases (including sternal diseases). Some people, after experiencing precordial pain, often suspect that they have coronary heart disease and blindly seek treatment for it. In fact, there are many reasons for precordial pain. Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, lungs, mediastinum, esophagus, etc. may all be diseases. Once you have precordial pain, you should go to the hospital as soon as possible and make a diagnosis based on the clinical manifestations.
