HPV vaccine side effects are generally mild and last for a short time. Common side effects are mainly local pain and swelling. Some reactions to the nine-valent vaccine are more common than those to the quadrivalent vaccine. It can be said that the vast majority of people who receive the nine-valent vaccine have some symptoms. The most common systemic side effect is fever, followed by headache, nausea and vomiting, and fatigue. In most people, side effects last no more than 4 to 5 days and do not require special treatment. Other serious side effects that have been reported, such as central nervous system complications and vascular embolism, have not been confirmed by the WHO.

Some studies followed up vaccinated people for 8 years and found no long-term side effects of the HPV vaccine.

There have been reports of adolescent women fainting after vaccination, so they must sit still for more than 15 minutes after vaccination before leaving the vaccination site. If you have allergic symptoms after vaccination or know that you are allergic to some ingredients in the vaccine, you should avoid vaccination.

Pregnant women should avoid getting the HPV vaccine. If they become pregnant during the vaccination period, they do not need to terminate the pregnancy. They just need to delay the missed dose until after the pregnant woman gives birth. Current statistics have not found any adverse effects related to the vaccine among unmarried women who become pregnant during the vaccination period.
