What are the precautions after hysterosalpingography?

The fallopian tube is an important part of the female reproductive system. It plays an extremely critical role in female fertility. However, the fallopian tube is also a part of the female reproductive system that is prone to disease, causing fertility problems for many women. Therefore, regular examinations of the fallopian tubes are very important. Using angiography to examine the fallopian tubes is a relatively popular method. Let’s take a look at what precautions should be taken after fallopian tube angiography.

The fallopian tube radiography examination needs to be done in the hospital within three to seven days after the menstrual period ends, without sexual intercourse. A series of tests need to be done before the examination, including checking vaginal secretions to see if there is vaginitis. If there is vaginal inflammation, vaginal medication treatment is required. After the inflammation is healed, another radiography examination can be performed. Blood tests are also required to see if there is anemia or elevated blood counts, and an electrocardiogram is also required to see if there are possible heart or other problems. If there is a heart disease, timely conditioning and treatment are needed. After salpingography, sexual intercourse is prohibited for half a month, and colds and spicy and irritating foods should be avoided. Just keep the vulva clean.

Preparation before salpingography: 1. The best time for salpingography: It is best to choose within 3 to 7 days after the menstruation is over; 2. Cleansing enema 2 hours before salpingography to clear intestinal contents and make the film clear; urinate before salpingography to avoid affecting the position of the uterus; 3. Do an iodine allergy test before salpingography. If there is no allergy, salpingography can be performed.

Things to note after salpingography:

1. Do not take a bath or have sexual intercourse for two weeks after angiography. Antibiotics may be given as appropriate to prevent infection.

2. Sometimes tubal spasm may cause the illusion of tubal obstruction. Repeat if necessary.

3. A small amount of vaginal bleeding within one week after the angiography is normal if there is no other discomfort. If the amount of bleeding is more than the menstrual volume or if there are other discomforts, you should contact your doctor.

4. It is best to practice contraception for three months after the contrast examination to reduce the possible effects of X-ray exposure. However, clinical observations have found that women who become pregnant in the same month after angiography do not have an increased risk of fetal abnormalities.
