Consequences of long-term use of pads

Sanitary pads are a common physiological product for women. Many women use them in normal times. However, there are some things to pay attention to when using them. If the sanitary pads are not used correctly, it will affect the health of women. Some women have a lot of vaginal discharge and use sanitary pads frequently. Long-term use of sanitary pads will endanger women's health. The following introduces the consequences of long-term use of sanitary pads.

Providing conditions for bacterial growth

In order to keep their private parts clean, many women often use sanitary pads to prevent secretions from getting on their underwear. However, they do not know that this habit provides favorable conditions for the growth of bacteria.

Most sanitary pads have a layer of plastic at the bottom, which has very poor air permeability. Long-term use will cause sweating in the genitals, and the temperature and humidity of the private environment will increase greatly, especially in hot seasons. The situation will be more serious, and bacteria happen to be very suitable for living in this environment.

Increase friction between skin

The skin in the private parts is relatively delicate. Long-term use of sanitary pads can easily increase the friction between the local skin and the thigh roots, which in turn causes damage to the local skin or hair follicles, and increases the incidence of diseases such as vulvar folliculitis.

Increased allergic reactions

Some sanitary pads contain additives and fragrances. For some women, these added ingredients may increase local allergic reactions and affect the health of private parts.

A healthy female vagina has a self-cleaning function

The pH value of a healthy woman's vagina is between 3.8 and 4.2, which is not conducive to the growth of alkaline bacteria and can avoid bacterial damage. In addition, the vaginal epithelium will periodically thicken under the action of ovarian hormones, stimulating the keratinization and shedding of surface cells. Coupled with the protection of the mucus at the cervical opening, these are not conducive to the reproduction of pathogens.

The healthy female genitals will automatically form a natural protective barrier. It is not recommended for women to use sanitary pads for a long time. Instead, this may destroy the healthy environment of the body, leading to the growth of bacteria, and then causing vaginitis, vulvitis and other infections.

How to use sanitary pads

1. Don’t use it if it’s not necessary: Many girls even use sanitary pads every day to prevent contamination by secretions. In fact, healthy women only need to clean their vulva and change their underwear every day, and they don’t need to use sanitary pads frequently.

2. Change frequently: Failure to change sanitary pads for a long time will increase local humidity and temperature. Therefore, if you must use them, you must change them frequently, especially when the weather is hot. You need to change them in time, no more than once every 4 hours.

3. Use it properly during special periods: During the days of ovulation when secretion increases, and during the days when the menstrual flow is light, you can use sanitary pads properly, but be sure to change them frequently. Maintain good personal hygiene.

4. Don’t use scented sanitary pads: The fragrance usually comes from the addition of chemical agents, which is harmful to the genital skin and the local environment.
