Cervical smear Pap test

Cervical smear Pap test

Cervical smear is a method we use to check for cervical disease. It mainly extracts cells from the surface of the cervix and then examines them in a culture dish. It is very important for determining cervical cancer. A level 1 Pap smear is a normal smear that does not contain abnormal cells, so women do not need to worry too much. However, if it is level 3, it proves that cancer cells and malignant cells appear in the cervix and require timely treatment.

The doctor explained: Cervical smear is a frequently performed cervical smear examination and is an important basis for diagnosing cervical cancer. Pap grade I is a normal smear, which does not contain abnormal cells. In addition, there are Pap smear grade II, grade III, etc.

Pap grade II: indicates that there are abnormal changes in cells in the inflammatory smear.

Pap test grade III: Possible cancer cells are found in the smear, with nuclear metamorphic changes, but the diagnosis cannot be confirmed and further examination is needed for confirmation.

Pap test grade IV: highly suspected malignant cells in the smear.

Pap test grade V: It is certain that it is cancer, and the smear contains cancer cells.

Some women worry that it will be painful when doing a cervical scrape. Doctors say: Although the cervical scrape is called a scrape, it is actually painless. The cervical scraper is to fully expose the external os of the cervix, rotate the scraper 360 degrees at the external os of the cervix, and gently scrape the mucosa and secretions there. The secretions were then evenly spread on numbered slides, immediately fixed in 95% ethanol for 15 minutes, and removed and stained with the Papanicolaou staining method. This diagnostic method does not cause damage to the cervix and is not painful.

What does a cervical smear test do?

Cervical smear is currently the simplest and most effective diagnostic method for widespread examination of cervical cancer. Any woman who has had sexual activity for more than three years or has had sexual activity for more than 21 years should start regular cervical cancer screening. Women who marry and have children early, have a history of miscarriage, a history of sexually transmitted diseases, or have multiple sexual partners are all at high risk of cervical cancer.

The cervical smear test reduces the mortality rate of cervical cancer by at least 70%. With a simple Pap smear, tiny, very early changes in cervical cells can be detected, allowing deadly cancer to be sniped before it even actually occurs. Cervical smear is currently the simplest and most effective diagnostic method for widespread examination of cervical cancer.

How long after cervical smear can I have sex?

How long after the cervical scraping can you have sex? You can have sex one month after the cervical scraping. In order not to affect the diagnostic rate of cervical smear, the following issues should also be noted:

1. The person being examined should avoid sexual intercourse within 24 hours before the scraping.

2. Do not flush the vagina, use vaginal suppositories, or perform intravaginal examinations within 24-48 hours before the planned examination.

3. When there is inflammation, treatment should be performed first, and then the scraping should be performed to avoid the slide being filled with a large number of white blood cells and inflammatory cells, which may affect the diagnosis.

4. It is best to schedule the examination during the non-menstrual period.

5. Do not have sex on the day after the examination.
