What to do if a pregnant woman suddenly has stomach pain

Pregnant women need to eat more nutritious food during pregnancy, not only to ensure the nutrition of the mother, but also to provide nutrition for the growth of the fetus. But if the food cannot be digested, it will cause stomach pain in pregnant women. If a pregnant woman suddenly suffers from stomach pain, it will not only affect herself, but in severe cases it may also hinder the normal development of the fetus. Therefore, if a pregnant woman has stomach pain, she must seek timely treatment. So, what should a pregnant woman do if she suddenly has stomach pain?

Causes of stomach pain during pregnancy:

The first reason is that the sphincter is relaxed, causing gastric acid reflux. The sphincter is located at the junction of the stomach and esophagus. Its main function is to allow the food to enter the stomach smoothly and not reflux. After pregnancy, women's hormone levels change, causing the sphincter to relax, and the food they eat is easy to reflux, so the acidic contents in the stomach will reflux from the stomach to the esophagus, throat and mouth, thereby irritating the mucosa and causing stomach pain.

The second reason is that the uterus presses on the stomach and intestines. During pregnancy, the uterus gradually grows, which will cause a certain amount of compression on various organs in the body, affecting the stomach and causing stomach pain.

The third reason is hormonal stimulation. After pregnancy, the hormone level in the body increases. The rapid increase of hcg will irritate the stomach and cause vomiting, causing stomach pain.

The fourth reason is that the patient had stomach problems before but did not receive active treatment, and improper diet led to stomach pain.

Treatment for stomach pain during pregnancy:

The first point is to eat properly. Reduce the amount of food you eat every day, eat small meals more often, and especially eat less food with high sugar content. This is mainly because you don’t want to overload your stomach and intestines, which may cause stomach pain.

The second point is that if the stomach pain is severe, you can adopt a semi-sitting position to reduce the pain.

The third point is that if you have frequent stomach pain, you can take antacids under the guidance of a doctor. It will be more effective if you take it before going to bed.

The fourth point is that if the symptoms of stomach pain continue to worsen, you should go to the hospital to further confirm the cause and then receive targeted treatment. Do not blindly self-medicate.
