Before ovulation, the basal body temperature gradually decreases and remains relatively low, at 36.4-36.6 degrees; on the ovulation day, the basal body temperature drops to the lowest point; after ovulation, the basal body temperature rises, generally by 0.3-0.5 degrees, and remains until the next menstrual period before it starts to decrease.
