An 8-month-old pregnant woman has gastroenteritis

Pregnant women really cannot afford to get sick, mainly because they are afraid that getting sick or taking medicine will harm the baby in their belly. For example, if a pregnant woman in the late 8 months of pregnancy gets gastroenteritis, she cannot get an IV or take various antibiotics casually. If gastroenteritis is not very serious, try to reduce the burden on the stomach and intestines through diet, and in most cases just bear with it considering the baby's situation.

1. Fasting

In the early stages, you can try fasting for one or two meals to reduce the burden on your stomach and intestines, and take this opportunity to expel debris from your body through diarrhea. At this time, vomiting can usually be effectively relieved. However, some expectant mothers will still experience nausea for a period of time.

2. Eat small amounts

After fasting, you should eat a small amount of porridge, white bread and other foods to avoid fainting due to hypoglycemia.

3. Stay hydrated

If the pregnant woman has severe diarrhea and has lost a lot of water and electrolytes, she should drink an appropriate amount of sports drinks when she feels dizzy. However, for safety reasons, please consult a doctor in advance.

4. Do not use intravenous drips at will

If severe acute gastroenteritis occurs, medication should be taken under the supervision of a doctor. If watery stools contain blood and are accompanied by high fever, it may be infectious enteritis. Pregnant women should not take medication without authorization. Intravenous drip is only recommended if a pregnant woman develops cholera or becomes unconscious, and should be avoided as much as possible in other situations.

5. Do not take antibiotics

Oral antibiotics are recommended only in rare cases of severe infectious gastroenteritis or diarrhea during travel. In fact, even for bacterial infections such as acute gastroenteritis, there is no need to use such drugs because the body will heal on its own.
