Pregnancy is a secondary development process for women. In fact, it can be simply said that the external manifestations of the body will undergo great changes during this period, and even women's height will increase during pregnancy. Of course, the biggest changes during pregnancy, apart from body shape, are the limbs, breasts and vulva. What is more well-known is the swelling of women's limbs and enlarged breasts. In fact, as the fetus continues to grow in the mother's body, the woman's vulva will also feel swollen and painful.

What causes vaginal pain during pregnancy

It is generally normal for pregnant women to experience vulvar pain. In the middle and late stages of pregnancy, some expectant mothers will feel swelling in the vulva and local redness of the skin. This phenomenon is called "varicose veins of the vulva." However, if the abnormal changes in leucorrhea are very serious, it may be caused by vulvitis or vaginitis. The vaginal mucosa of pregnant women becomes soft, the tissue becomes congested and edematous, the number of vaginal exfoliated cells increases, and the secretions increase.

The glycogen and lactic acid content in the vaginal epithelial cells increase, which lowers the pH value of vaginal secretions and is conducive to the reproduction of fungi. In addition, pregnant women have low body resistance, which can easily lead to fungal vaginitis. The vulvar skin of pregnant women becomes thicker, and the secretion of the sebaceous glands of the labia minora increases. In addition, the renal glucose threshold of pregnant women decreases during pregnancy, the urine sugar content increases, and the stimulation of diabetes can easily cause vulvitis.
