Menstruation is something that every woman will experience when she reaches a certain age. Menstruation is a sign that a girl is maturing. Menstruation is called menstruation because it is cyclical and regular, and comes back every month. Whether menstruation is normal or not can reflect a person's physical health. People with irregular menstruation must have physical problems. So what is the reason for having a menstrual period every half a month? Menstruation that occurs once every two weeks is mostly ovulation bleeding. This vaginal bleeding that looks like "menstruation" is actually not "menstruation" in the true sense. The bleeding time is shorter and the amount of bleeding is relatively small. Ovulation bleeding is actually a physiological phenomenon. Currently, many people believe that this is related to changes in estrogen levels during ovulation. When the hormones secreted by the pituitary gland reach a certain level, they will induce the follicles to gradually develop and mature. After the mature follicle ruptures, if the estrogen level in the body drops sharply to a point where it cannot maintain the continued growth of the endometrium, it can cause endometrial necrosis and shedding, resulting in breakthrough bleeding. As the corpus luteum formed by the follicle after ovulation secretes sufficient estrogen and progesterone, the ruptured endometrium can be quickly repaired and the bleeding can stop. Don’t compare your menstrual cycle with others, but compare it with yourself. The length of menstrual cycles varies. The key to judging whether it is normal or not is to see whether a long-term pattern has been formed. If it has been like this for one or two years, the estrogen level in the body is normal, ovulation is normal, and there are no other discomforts, then it is normal. In addition to menstruation that occurs every 21-35 days and menstruation during amenorrhea, pregnancy, menopause, and early puberty, there is also a special type of normal menstruation, which occurs every 40 to 50 days, or once every two months, or once every three months, or even once a year. As long as a regular pattern is formed and no physical discomfort is caused, it is normal. Whether menstruation is normal or not also depends on other factors such as menstrual period and menstrual color. Regardless of the cycle, a normal menstrual period should be 3-7 days. A period of less than 3 days indicates that the corpus luteum function is low and the endometrium is shed quickly. Experts point out that in addition to the requirements of cycle and menstruation, normal menstrual bleeding is 30-50 ml, and the menstrual blood should be dark red, neither thin nor thick, not coagulated, without blood clots, and without special odor. In addition, the absence of large mood swings and other obvious discomfort before and after menstruation are also criteria for measuring whether menstruation is normal or not. If you do not meet the above conditions, you can seek medical treatment. Don’t be too nervous if you have irregular menstruation occasionally, but if it happens repeatedly for more than two cycles, you should consider seeking medical attention. |
