Dark discharge that doesn't look like menstruation

Women's menstrual period is relatively regular, and they should pay attention to cleanliness and hygiene during their menstrual period, and be careful not to eat raw or cold food. Female secretions are also relatively regular and generally have no color or odor. But why do some women have dark secretions that don’t look like menstruation? If the discharge is colored, you should be aware of inflammation.

Is it normal to have brown discharge during menstruation?

1. Normal leucorrhea should be milky white or colorless and transparent, with a slightly fishy smell or no smell. In your case, it may be caused by inflammation of the vagina, cervix, or pelvis.

2. The absence of menstruation and the presence of brown discharge may be a sign of premenstruation. If you have had sexual intercourse and your menstruation is delayed for more than ten days, you need to pay attention to whether there is a cause of miscarriage after pregnancy.

3. It is abnormal if the menstrual volume is too small for a long time. There are many reasons for the small menstrual volume, such as endocrine disorders, gynecological inflammation, changes in mental environment, anemia, etc. In addition, it may be due to the endometrium itself, such as endometrial tuberculosis causing endometrial lesions or artificial abortion, curettage causing thin endometrium, etc. Long-term low menstrual volume may cause amenorrhea or infertility.

4. Brown vaginal discharge after menstruation usually occurs within 7 days after menstruation. Brown vaginal discharge after menstruation is also called mid-menstrual bleeding, which usually refers to a small amount of bleeding between two normal menstrual periods, which may be accompanied by varying degrees of lower abdominal pain. It is a physiological brown vaginal discharge after menstruation. If the symptoms are mild, no treatment is required. If you find heavy bleeding or long-term infertility, it is best to go to the hospital for examination and symptomatic treatment. Brown vaginal discharge after menstruation may also be pathological, which is mostly caused by cervical diseases, such as endometrial cancer, cervical polyps, cervical erosion, etc. Gynecological inflammation such as vaginitis may also cause brown vaginal discharge after menstruation. If the brown color of leucorrhea after pathological menstruation cannot be restored on its own, it is recommended to go to the hospital for a leucorrhea examination to determine the cause.
