Symptoms of cervical adhesions

Symptoms of cervical adhesions

Many female friends do not know the cause or symptoms of cervical adhesion. They cannot make a diagnosis until the disease occurs and cannot receive timely treatment. Therefore, female friends should learn more about cervical adhesion. Because cervical adhesion is a relatively common gynecological disease, it can cause the endometrium of the uterus to stick together, affecting women's conception.

What is cervical adhesion

What is cervical adhesion? In a normal uterine cavity, the anterior and posterior walls of the endometrium are in contact and closed, but adhesions do not occur between them. This does not happen even during endometrial ablation during menstruation. This is mainly because when the basal layer of the endometrium is intact, the basal layer can quickly repair the functional layer of the endometrium. However, if the endometrium is damaged due to stimulation such as abortion, curettage, inflammation, etc., causing damage to the uterine cavity and cervical canal, it may cause fibrinogen to seep and deposit in the uterine stroma, and eventually lead to adhesions of the anterior and posterior walls of the uterine cavity.

What are the symptoms of cervical adhesions?

The main clinical manifestations of cervical adhesions are abnormal menstruation (decreased menstrual volume or even amenorrhea), abdominal pain before menstruation, and even in severe cases, secondary infertility. Even after pregnancy, repeated miscarriages, ectopic pregnancy, placenta previa, placenta accreta, etc. may occur, causing great harm to women. Therefore, patients with cervical adhesions must be detected and treated early.

However, due to the diverse clinical manifestations of cervical adhesions, some women of childbearing age who experience premature amenorrhea, or who go to the hospital for infertility or recurrent miscarriage can be diagnosed in time. However, there are also some patients with mild cervical adhesions who may only experience decreased menstrual volume or dysmenorrhea. Therefore, some patients receive symptomatic treatment, and after the symptoms improve, they do not further look for the cause. Later, due to missed diagnosis, the endometrium gradually develops adhesion fibrosis and even scarring, which ultimately causes permanent damage to the endometrium, greatly increasing the difficulty of treatment.
