After abortion, my stomach feels like menstrual cramps

After abortion, my stomach feels like menstrual cramps

After an abortion, women may have some gynecological diseases, which is a very normal phenomenon. Most women do not care about their bodies after an abortion and do not take good care of themselves. This can easily lead to dryness, irregular menstruation, and frequent abdominal pain like dysmenorrhea. They may even have continuous bleeding. So what should you do if your stomach feels like dysmenorrhea after an abortion?

Causes of menstruation

Menstruation is a physiological cycle. About every month, the endometrium undergoes a process of autonomous thickening, blood vessel proliferation, glandular growth and secretion under the action of estrogen and progesterone. After ovulation, estrogen and progesterone levels decrease, causing the endometrium to lose hormonal support, collapse and fall off with cyclical changes accompanied by bleeding.

The menstrual cycle is generally 28-30 days, but it varies from person to person and may be 23-45 days, or even 3 months or half a year as a cycle. As long as it is regular, it is generally considered normal menstruation.

The impact of abortion on menstruation

After an abortion, hormones in the body rapidly withdraw, leading to endocrine disorders, which in turn lead to menstrual disorders.

Generally speaking, abortion can be regarded as a menstrual period, and the next menstrual period will come based on the date of surgery as the start date of the cycle.

How long does it take to get menstruation after abortion?

After an artificial abortion, the ovaries can usually resume ovulation function within 22 days, and menstruation usually occurs about 1 month after the abortion.

If menstruation is delayed for more than 7-10 days, you should go to the hospital for an ultrasound examination and symptomatic treatment.

After an abortion, due to changes in hormone levels in the body and damage to the endometrium during the operation, the menstrual period may sometimes be prolonged and the length of the cycle may vary. It usually returns to normal after 2 to 3 months, and in a few people it lasts longer.

If you have long-term menstrual disorders, you can go to the hospital for B-ultrasound and six sex hormone tests to determine the cause and receive symptomatic treatment.

Things to note after abortion

1. Pay attention to bleeding: About a week after the abortion, there will be red or light red secretions in the vagina, the amount will gradually decrease, and there will be no obvious odor. If the bleeding time exceeds 15 days, the amount of bleeding is greater than the menstrual volume, especially if the secretion has a foul odor and is accompanied by symptoms such as fever and abdominal pain, you should go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time to avoid worsening of the condition.

2. Get enough rest. It is best to avoid physical labor and physical exercise within half a month after miscarriage.

3. Within half a month after the abortion, eat more chicken, lean pork, eggs, milk, beans, bean products, etc., and limit fat appropriately.

4. Make sure to get enough iron to prevent anemia after miscarriage.

5. As the body is weak and prone to sweating, it is advisable to replenish water in small amounts and multiple times. A large amount of water-soluble vitamins are excreted in sweat, especially vitamin C, vitamin B1, and vitamin B2. Therefore, you should eat more fresh vegetables and fruits. It is also helpful in preventing constipation.
