Where does the real contraction hurt?

Some pregnant women will experience pain during pregnancy. The pain is not a single type of pain, but may be accompanied by multiple types. In addition to the nausea and vomiting that are common during pregnancy, as well as body edema and lower limb edema, there are also symptoms such as leg soreness. Generally, uterine contractions may occur in the late pregnancy. Uterine contractions are divided into true contractions and false contractions. Some contractions occur frequently in the late pregnancy.

Where does the contraction hurt?

Starting from the 28th week of pregnancy, false contractions will often occur in the abdomen. If a pregnant woman stands or sits in the same posture for a long time, she will feel her abdomen hardening from time to time. This is called false labor, which is characterized by irregular timing and varying degrees of intensity.

Before delivery, false labor will become more and more frequent due to the traction stimulation of the lower uterine segment caused by the descending fetal head. In the late pregnancy, false labor may cause mild distension and pain in the lower abdomen. It often occurs in the dead of night and disappears at dawn. The frequency of contractions is inconsistent, the duration is not constant, the intervals are long and irregular, the intensity of contractions does not gradually increase, and there is no feeling of falling, and the symptoms are relieved during the day.

False labor indicates that pregnant women will soon go into labor, so they should be prepared, such as getting enough rest and eating more high-energy foods such as chocolate to conserve their energy.

The contractions before delivery are rhythmic. Each contraction goes from weak to strong and lasts for a period of time, usually 30-40 seconds. After disappearing, it enters an interval period of 5-6 minutes. At the beginning, the pain occurred two or three times in half an hour, each time lasting 45 seconds, which was still bearable. Later, it became twice in 10 minutes, each time lasting 2-3 minutes. Only then did it truly turn into effective uterine contraction, and the cervix would gradually open under such contraction.

There will be pain during contractions and a tightness when you touch your belly. If there is contraction pain and spotting or discharge, these are symptoms of labor. But everyone's situation will be different.

To prevent uterine contractions, pay attention to the following.

First, don’t walk too much or lift too much heavy objects. Lifting heavy objects can cause strain on the abdomen and easily lead to uterine contractions.

Second, lying down and resting and keeping quiet when you are tired will be very effective.

Third, don’t accumulate stress. Mental fatigue, like physical fatigue, can lead to various problems. The accumulated stress can also easily cause the abdomen to become hard. It is best to relax both physically and mentally.

Fourth, prevent catching cold. Air conditioning makes the lower limbs and waist too cold, which can easily cause uterine contractions. It is also important to wear socks and cover yourself with a blanket to prevent catching a cold.

Family care tips:

1. Sleeping on the side: Let the mother sleep on her side and avoid standing or sitting for long periods of time to reduce pain in this area. It may also be helpful to put a cushion under the mother's buttocks when sitting.

2. Massage within 10 days after delivery. Family members can use their palms to apply slight force to help the mother do circular massage until they feel the area harden. If the uterus contracts and the pain is severe, the massage should be temporarily stopped and the prone position should be used to relieve the pain.

5. If you still feel pain and discomfort after taking painkillers, which affects your rest and sleep, you should notify your medical staff. If necessary, mild sedatives can be used to relieve the pain.
