What to do if your period is too little

What to do if your period is too little

From the time women have their first menstruation in adolescence until menopause, there is a special time every day which is the menstrual period. Many people will notice that their periods are less frequent or the amount of blood is less. These are all abnormal manifestations. The blood in the uterus cannot be discharged and will accumulate on the surface of the uterus, and these gynecological diseases will appear in us.

Menstruation refers to the periodic shedding and bleeding of the endometrium caused by the periodic ovulation of the ovaries and the periodic changes in the secretion of estrogen and progesterone by the ovaries. The establishment of regular menstruation is the main sign of the functional maturity of the reproductive system.

What is normal menstruation like? Normal menstruation is cyclical, with an interval of 21-35 days, and an average of 28 days (the interval between the first days of two menstruations is called a menstrual cycle); the duration of each menstruation is called the menstrual period, which is 2-7 days; the normal menstrual volume is 30-50 ml, generally not exceeding 80 ml.

The amount of bleeding is small in the first 12 hours after the start of menstruation, the heaviest on the 2nd and 3rd days, and then decreases rapidly after the 3rd day. If measured by sanitary napkins, use 3-5 sanitary napkins per day on the 2nd to 3rd day of your period.

If the menstrual flow is too heavy, the sanitary napkin becomes wet quickly when you change it, or the menstrual period is prolonged with no signs of decreasing, the most common diseases are functional uterine bleeding, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, etc. Timely examination is required, and a treatment plan to eliminate the cause of the disease should be adopted based on hemostasis treatment.

What causes scanty menstruation?

If the menstrual cycle is basically normal but the menstrual volume is significantly reduced, or even stops with a few drops, or the menstrual period is shortened to less than two days and the menstrual volume is also small, it is called oligomenorrhea. Generally, the menstrual volume is less than 30 ml, which is often a precursor to amenorrhea.

Too little menstrual flow is mainly related to ovarian dysfunction and endocrine disorders. If oligomenorrhea occurs for more than two consecutive months, hormone levels need to be measured, mainly for estrogen, progesterone, prolactin, etc. Other auxiliary examinations include B-ultrasound, endometrial biopsy, and hysteroscopy.

What are the effects of too little menstrual flow?

In addition to causing diseases and affecting health, scanty menstruation can also affect beauty. Due to abnormal secretion of hormone levels, women will have skin spots, roughness, darkening, acne, etc., which cannot be covered up even with the most expensive cosmetics. If not treated in time, premature aging will occur, and even amenorrhea, anovulation, premature ovarian failure, infertility, etc. There may also be symptoms such as bad temper and depression. In addition, a decrease in vaginal secretions can also affect the harmony of couples' life.

Daily self-protection for scanty menstruation

First, get enough sleep. Nourishing liver and blood is vital for women. If the liver blood is insufficient, the menstrual volume will easily become less. The most important thing for nourishing liver blood is sleep. Only by falling asleep before 11 o'clock at night can the liver blood be nourished.

Second, adjust your mindset. Negative emotions such as mental frustration and stress can cause menstrual abnormalities, so it is very necessary for female friends to maintain a good attitude.

Third, don’t overwork yourself during menstruation and reduce your workload appropriately. Excessive physical fatigue will affect the function of body organs and also affect metabolism.
