Heart discomfort in late pregnancy

Heart discomfort in late pregnancy

Pregnancy has a great impact on women's bodies, and most women will experience many changes in their bodies. Especially in the late pregnancy, this is the most critical period, because pregnant women who are about to give birth are under great physical and mental stress. Therefore, you should always pay attention to the physical changes of the pregnant woman, and any problems with the heart or other parts of the body should be checked in time. So what causes heart discomfort in late pregnancy?

There are eight general causes of heart discomfort in pregnant women.

1. Hypoglycemia

Hypoglycemia mostly occurs in middle-aged women, and there is no clear cause of the disease. The early symptoms of hypoglycemia include palpitations, fatigue, hunger, hand tremors, cold sweats, pale complexion, cold limbs, or nausea and vomiting. It is mainly caused by overexcitement of the sympathetic nerves and excessive adrenaline. Hypoglycemia is episodic, not frequent, and symptoms such as palpitations and shortness of breath are not very common.

2. Cardiovascular dysfunction

It is very common in clinical practice. Patients feel panic, shortness of breath, and always feel that there is not enough air and difficulty breathing. Sometimes it is accompanied by palpitations, tachycardia, tingling in the heart, and mental symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, and insomnia.

3. Insufficient oxygen supply

Young women have excessive estrogen secretion in their bodies, too thick subcutaneous fat, and adipose tissue consumes more oxygen than muscle tissue, so young women often suffer from insufficient blood supply and experience palpitations and shortness of breath. During pregnancy, you need to breathe more oxygen, and your body will continue to adjust accordingly to meet the oxygen demand. The increase in hormones during pregnancy, especially the increase in progesterone, can directly affect the lungs and stimulate the respiratory center in the brain. During pregnancy, the number of breaths per minute does not change, but the amount of air inhaled each time will increase significantly, causing shortness of breath.

4. Anemia

Anemia can cause symptoms such as dizziness, palpitations, and tachycardia, but rarely causes symptoms of panic.

5. Low Blood Pressure

Low blood pressure is also a major cause of dizziness, but blood pressure around 60/90 generally does not cause changes in blood supply.

6. Pressure from an enlarged uterus

In late pregnancy, you may feel labored breathing and shortness of breath due to pressure from the enlarging uterus on the diaphragm. Especially those with a higher fetal position or those carrying multiple babies.

7. Psychological Emotions

Unpleasant emotions can also easily cause panic. Especially girls during pregnancy, when encountering unpleasant things, they will sulk, so they often feel anxious and short of breath. So be open-minded about everything and look at everything.

8. Myocarditis

Symptoms include palpitations, heart palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmia, shortness of breath, etc. Myocarditis, a common disease among women, should be checked out as a priority. Pregnant women, in particular, are more likely to develop viral myocarditis after having a cold, the main symptoms of which are palpitations and shortness of breath.

If a pregnant woman experiences mild heart discomfort, she must not be nervous, but should immediately stop what she is doing and take a short rest. Generally, the condition will improve or disappear after rest. If the condition does not improve, you need to go to the hospital for further examination in time.
