The harm of residual milk

The harm of residual milk

For postpartum women, weaning will be carried out at a certain time. When weaning, the remaining milk should be emptied in time. If it is not completely emptied, it may easily cause certain harms, such as mastitis, breast pain and swelling, etc. During the weaning period, you must understand the correct method. In addition to paying attention to diet, a good mentality is also very important. Let’s take a look at this aspect.

The harm of residual milk

After weaning, the residual milk needs to be drained out. If the milk is not drained out in time, there will be many harms. If milk is not drained out completely, it will easily deteriorate in the breast for a long time, forming pus, causing breast inflammation, and in severe cases, leading to cancer.

After the residual milk is completely discharged, the mammary ducts will be unblocked, toxins can be discharged normally, and the entire breast will be in a normal operating state. Not everyone needs to drain the residual milk. It depends on one's individual physical condition. Some mothers may suffer from hyperplasia due to draining the residual milk.

What is the correct way to wean?

In fact, the correct way to wean is to give yourself and your baby a process of adaptation.

1. Reduce the amount of milk first

If you insist on weaning when your baby has a lot of milk, it is very risky because it will cause milk stagnation and in severe cases may cause mastitis.

2. Eat a light diet

Try not to eat too much meat and fish during the weaning period. After these foods enter the body, they will first be converted into calories needed for breast milk. Secondly, they may also cause milk blockage due to greasy food and the baby eating less.

3. Keep a happy mood

Emotional instability can also affect the progress of weaning and may even cause milk stasis.

4. Clean up the milk accumulation

Although mothers are often ready to wean their babies, their bodies are still producing milk, so if this is the case, remember to learn how to clean up the accumulated milk in time (massage or use a breast pump, etc.).

In addition, it is recommended that mothers can separate from their babies for a period of time if necessary. Although we all know that accompanied weaning is good, it is actually very tiring. For example, some mothers will have breast engorgement when they hear their baby crying. Mothers like this are not suitable for weaning in this environment, otherwise they will have to fight a protracted battle.

Weaning is not just the mother's job. We should learn to get family members involved, such as having fathers spend more time with their children, thereby reducing the contact between mother and baby and making weaning easier for mothers.
