Do I need to check for pregnancy?

Nowadays, most young people will prepare for pregnancy before getting pregnant. Preparing for pregnancy can improve the quality of sperm and eggs, help conception, and is also very important for the growth and development of the fetus. Nowadays, many people are affected by the environment and work pressure. Being in such an environment for a long time can easily lead to a sub-healthy state of the body. Does preparing for pregnancy require examination?

Do I need to check for pregnancy?

Of course. Having a child is a matter for two people. Both men and women should go for a pre-pregnancy check-up. This is a check-up that is responsible for both themselves and the child.

If you want to talk about a comprehensive examination, there may be more items. It is recommended that men do some necessary examinations:

1. Culture of Ureaplasma urealyticum and Chlamydia trachomatis. If conditions permit, DNA testing of Ureaplasma urealyticum, Chlamydia trachomatis, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae can be performed.

2. Four eugenics tests and two infertility tests (generally, infertility tests require men to only test for anti-sperm and anti-cardiolipin antibodies, but since infertility tests are not popular, many hospitals do not carry them out)

3. If the woman is type O blood, the man should also check his blood type (if the man is not type O blood, the woman needs to have a blood type titer test during pregnancy)

4. Syphilis, AIDS, and hepatitis B (usually done during premarital physical examinations. If not done, it is recommended to do a full set of infectious disease tests.)

5. The most necessary thing to do is "semen analysis". The semen analyzer is mainly used to check the sperm motility, activity rate, sperm density, sperm morphology and other tests to determine whether the semen quality is qualified and whether it can meet the requirements of pregnancy, including

Color: off-white, light yellow

Semen volume: 2ml or more

Liquefaction time: less than 60 minutes

pH value: 7.2 or higher

Density: 20 million per milliliter or higher

Deformity rate: less than or equal to 70%

Motility is divided into four levels: A, B, C, and D. Normal semen requires A ≥ 25% or A + B ≥ 50%.

Generally, people who require this test are required to abstain from sex for 2-7 days. Of course, some requirements are different for different laboratories, so you should go to the local hospital to inquire for details.

6. Chromosome examination or genetic examination. If there is a family genetic disease, or if there is habitual miscarriage, unexplained miscarriage, stillbirth, inability to get pregnant, etc., it is recommended to undergo a genetic test at the request of a doctor.

What should you pay attention to when preparing for pregnancy test?

1. You need to fast and drink some dairy products in the morning of the examination day. You also need to be on an empty stomach, not eat breakfast or any other food, because normal examinations require an empty stomach.

2. Hold your urine before the B-ultrasound examination. Because the B-ultrasound examination must be performed when the bladder is full, female friends need to hold their urine.

3. Women should also avoid physical examinations during menstruation. It is best to rest well the day before the physical examination to ensure that they are in good spirits.

4. 3-5 days before the pre-pregnancy check-up, the diet should be light and do not eat foods such as pork liver and pig blood. Do not eat or drink after midnight the night before the examination.

5. When undergoing X-ray examination, it is advisable to wear cotton underwear and avoid clothes with metal buttons; please remove necklaces, mobile phones, pens, keys and other metal objects. Women who may be pregnant must inform the examiner and be cautious when undergoing X-ray examinations.
