Can pregnant women occasionally light mosquito coils to sleep?

Every summer, people are troubled not only by the unbearable high temperature, but also by the ubiquitous mosquitoes around us. Even if we have made sufficient preparations, mosquitoes will still come to us inadvertently and bite our bodies with small red dots. After pregnancy, women's body temperature is higher than that of normal people, so they are very easy to attract mosquitoes. Can pregnant women occasionally light mosquito coils to sleep?

Pregnant women should not use mosquito coils or other chemicals to repel mosquitoes, because the organic pollutants in mosquito coils and other chemicals may affect the intellectual development of the fetus and easily cause disorders of the brain and nervous system. The best way for pregnant women to prevent mosquitoes is to use a mosquito net. If the mosquito bites are really severe, you can take some vitamin B supplements appropriately. In addition, eating more fruits and vegetables can reduce the redness and swelling after being bitten.

The active ingredients of most mosquito coils are pyrethroid insecticides, as well as organic fillers, adhesives, dyes and other additives. The smoke from burning mosquito coils therefore contains many substances that are harmful to the human body and may induce diseases such as asthma. It is estimated that the amount of particles released by lighting a roll of mosquito coils is roughly the same as the amount of particles released by burning about 100 cigarettes. The ultrafine particles released can enter and remain in the lungs, which may cause asthma in the short term and cancer in the long term. Secondly, there are carcinogens produced by incomplete combustion of the mosquito coil base material, as well as some compounds that irritate the upper respiratory tract, which can poison the human nervous system.

It is also beyond doubt that mosquito coils are harmful to pregnant women. In addition to the above-mentioned dangers, organic pollutants in chemicals such as mosquito coils may affect the intellectual development of the fetus and may also easily cause disorders in the brain's nervous system.

At present, although there are various types of mosquito coils on the market and they are all labeled as odorless and harmless, in fact each type of mosquito coil contains some ingredients that are harmful to the human body. It is recommended that pregnant women do not use mosquito coils for the health of the fetus.

Pregnant women's mosquito repellent method in summer

1. Mosquito net

This is the most primitive but also the safest method. Mosquito nets can not only prevent mosquitoes and wind, but also absorb falling dust and filter the air. But the disadvantage is that it can only prevent mosquitoes in a very limited space, and you will still be harassed by mosquitoes when you walk out of the mosquito net.

2. Electric mosquito swatter

The biggest advantage of electric mosquito swatters is that they do not produce any chemical substances that are harmful to the human body. Instead, they use electrical energy to form an electric net on the surface of the net, which hits mosquitoes and burns them to death. Compared with traditional fly swatters, electric mosquito swatters will not leave blood stains or contaminate items, and they also have a higher kill rate. But the disadvantage is that it consumes too much manpower as you have to look for mosquitoes everywhere, and it is even more useless when you sleep at night.

3. Red light bulb

Installing red light bulbs also repels mosquitoes. Since mosquitoes are afraid of orange-red light, you can install orange-red light bulbs indoors or cover the light bulbs with translucent orange-red cellophane. When you turn on the light, the mosquitoes will flee because they are afraid of the orange-red light.

4. Mosquito trap

Mosquito traps use the mosquitoes' phototaxis and sensitivity to specific wavelengths to lure them into contact with the net, which then instantly burns them with high voltage electricity. It is best to place the mosquito trap above the knee and no more than 180 cm from the ground. When using a mosquito trap, all other indoor light sources should be turned off to avoid affecting the mosquito catching effect.
