Pregnant woman with water discharge

Perhaps in the eyes of most people, there will be no menstruation after pregnancy, let alone any secretions, so the vagina of pregnant women should be dry, and it is very easy to go without menstruation for almost ten months, nearly a year. In fact, the symptoms of pregnancy alone are particularly uncomfortable. Pregnant women will also have secretions, especially after pregnancy, they will be accompanied by this common secretion during pregnancy.

What is brown discharge during pregnancy ?

What is the reason for brown discharge in early pregnancy? Could it be a sign of miscarriage? In fact, when pregnant women have brown discharge, they should pay more attention to rest and lie down more often. If it persists, they need to go to the hospital. Generally, when you go to the hospital, your progesterone level will be checked. If the progesterone level is too low, you will need to take injections or medicine to supplement it.

1. Experts say that when there is brown discharge in the early stages of pregnancy, it will get better after a while. You need to be careful not to overwork and get more rest. There is no problem if the brown discharge is very light in color. If the color is darker, it is best to go to the hospital for a check-up.

2. In addition, a blood HCG test should be done to confirm pregnancy. If you are indeed pregnant and have vaginal bleeding in the early stages of pregnancy, you need to go to the hospital for a vaginal B-ultrasound examination to determine whether it is an intrauterine pregnancy. If it is an intrauterine pregnancy, you also need to do a blood HCG and progesterone test to determine the hormone levels and fetal development. If it is an ectopic pregnancy, it is best to undergo electronic laparoscopic surgery to maximize the preservation of organ and functional integrity. You need to go to the hospital for examination to make a clear diagnosis and receive symptomatic treatment.

3. Generally speaking, if there is brown substance in vaginal secretions, it may be cervical erosion, irregular shedding of endometrium, etc. It cannot be confirmed whether it is threatened abortion. It is recommended that you go to the Maternal and Child Health Hospital for regular prenatal check-ups to ensure the normal health of the fetus.

4. If brown discharge appears intermittently, you should temporarily avoid sexual intercourse, otherwise there will be a risk of miscarriage. In the early stages of pregnancy, the fertilized egg (embryo) fails to implant in the uterus and is in the early stages of development. The placenta has not yet fully developed and the connection between the placenta and the uterine wall is not yet stable. If you have sexual intercourse at this time, the uterus will be vibrated, which can easily cause the placenta to fall off and cause miscarriage. If you engage in sexual intercourse at an early age, the prostaglandins contained in the semen may cause the uterus to contract and the cervix to relax, which, combined with the stimulation during sexual intercourse, may lead to miscarriage. Sexual activity should still be avoided during the first 10 weeks.

Is it normal for pregnant women to have yellow leucorrhea?

1. Yellow, sticky

If a pregnant woman's leucorrhea is yellow and sticky, it may be due to infection with Candida albicans. Candida albicans is a type of fungus and a common vaginal infection during pregnancy. When infected with Candida albicans, the secretions will be yellow and sticky, similar to cheese, and symptoms such as itching in the perineum and redness of the vagina will appear. Even if cured, the chance of recurrence is still high, especially during pregnancy when the body's resistance is low. Candida albicans exists in the vagina. Under normal circumstances, Candida albicans and good bacteria will maintain a balance. Once the resistance is reduced or overworked, the number of Candida albicans will increase, leading to infection. Candida albicans infection will cause discomfort to pregnant women, but will not affect the fetus.

It is usually treated with vaginal suppositories or topical anti-itch ointments applied to the vulva. Do not wear pants that are too tight. Choose cotton breathable materials to keep the genitals ventilated and dry to avoid increasing the number of Candida albicans. If the pubic hair is thick, it is recommended to trim it slightly.

2. Grayish yellow, peculiar smell

If a pregnant woman's leucorrhea is grayish yellow and has an odor, it may be caused by a bacterial infection. Bacterial infections are usually caused by anaerobic bacteria, which exist in the vagina. They may also be caused by bacteria near the anus. Because the vagina and anus are located close to each other, it is easy for bacteria from the anus to be brought into the vagina, and as long as the amount is large, it will cause infection.

When infected, the secretions are grayish yellow and have an odor, but they will not necessarily itch. In severe cases, the genitals will become red and swollen. Bacteria may enter the uterine cavity along the cervix, causing inflammation of the amniotic cavity and infection of the fetus. The infection can easily induce uterine contractions and lead to premature birth. Among early cases of premature birth, 50% were related to infection.
