1. Look in the mirror

Take off your shirt, exposing your upper body, then raise your arms above your head and carefully observe whether the shape and outline of your breasts change. At the same time, carefully check whether there is redness, swelling, rash, or wrinkles on the skin. Also check whether the nipples are on the same level and whether there is any elevation, retraction or depression. You can gently press the nipple to see if there is any discharge or any change in the color of the areola.

2. Lying flat palpation

Take off your clothes, lie flat on the bed, put a small pillow under your right shoulder, then lift your right shoulder high to make the right breast flat. At this time, use the three fingers of your left hand, the index finger, middle finger, and ring finger, to slowly, steadily, and carefully touch the right breast, starting from the outside of the breast, and rotate clockwise or counterclockwise for more than three circles until you reach the nipple to check. Next, check for enlarged lymph nodes in the armpit. Finally, use your thumb and index finger to gently squeeze the nipple at the same time and observe whether there is nipple discharge. If you notice cloudy, yellowish or bloody discharge, seek medical attention immediately.
