Is it dangerous for pregnant women with anemia to give birth naturally?

Pregnant women should take a lot of supplements during pregnancy, especially those who suffer from anemia, because the body has fewer red blood cells. If pregnant women are anemic, the fetus is very dangerous and may lead to abdominal stillbirth. Even if such a phenomenon can be avoided, if pregnant women accidentally bleed during childbirth, it will endanger their lives. So is it dangerous for pregnant women with anemia to give birth naturally?

As a group with a high risk of anemia, especially iron deficiency anemia, countless pregnant mothers have experienced anemia during pregnancy. Since the pregnant woman's belly has a fetus that needs nutrition, many mothers worry that their anemia will cause the fetus to be malnourished. So, does anemia in pregnant women have any effect on the fetus?

Generally speaking, mild anemia during pregnancy will have little effect on the fetus, but if the anemia is severe, it may have a huge impact on both the fetus and the pregnant woman herself. The impact of moderate or above anemia on the fetus is mainly reflected in the following three aspects:

First of all, if a pregnant woman suffers from severe anemia, the blood's oxygen-carrying capacity is lower than that of a normal pregnant woman, which can easily lead to placental hypoxia. Placental hypoxia can cause degeneration and infarction of the placental villi, which may eventually lead to fetal suffocation in the uterus. In severe cases, it may also lead to premature birth or even stillbirth.

In addition, the placenta cannot supply enough blood oxygen, and the growth and development of the fetus will become slow. Even if it is born sufficiently, it will be smaller and lighter than a normal fetus, and even have lower intelligence.

Finally, if a pregnant woman has severe anemia, the baby she gives birth to will have low iron reserves in the body and may develop anemia in the future due to insufficient iron reserves.
