Six months pregnant boy fetal heart rate

Six months pregnant boy fetal heart rate

Even in modern society, the idea of favoring boys over girls has gradually faded, but some older generations still hope that their pregnant women can give birth to boys. However, when they go to the hospital for a check-up, doctors will not tell pregnant women the gender of their children for moral and ethical reasons. At this time, they can only infer it based on some of their own characteristics. But if the baby is a boy, what will the fetal heart rate be?

What is the fetal heart rate? Is it a boy?

There is a saying that if the fetal heart rate is lower than 140 beats/minute, it is a boy; if it is higher than 140 beats/minute, it is a girl.

The truth: Girls have a higher heart rate than boys, but this is only true when they are just born. There is no difference in the fetal heart rate between boys and girls.

The speed of heart rate only varies with gestational age. At about 5 weeks of pregnancy, the fetus' heart rate is close to the mother's heart rate, which is 80-85 beats/minute. Then during the 9th week of pregnancy, the heart rate gradually increases to 170-200 beats/minute. Then during the second trimester it gradually slows down to 120-160 beats per minute.

Is a high fetal heart rate a girl?

In fact, it is unscientific to judge the gender of a baby by the fetal heart rate. The fetal heart rate refers to the fetal heart rate regulated by the sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves. By recording the instantaneous changes in the fetal heart rate through the signal, the curve of the monitoring graph can be used to understand the reaction of the fetal heart during fetal movement and uterine contraction, so as to infer whether the fetus in the uterus is suffering from hypoxia. The normal fetal heart rate is 120 to 160 beats per minute. If the fetal heart rate is above 160 beats per minute or only 100 beats per minute, it is abnormal, indicating that the fetus may be suffering from intrauterine hypoxia and should be treated promptly. As for the statement that a high fetal heart rate means a girl, it is just a matter of probability. The sex of the fetus cannot be determined from the speed of the fetal heart rate.

Is it accurate to tell the gender of the fetus by heart rate?

Is it accurate to determine the gender of a baby based on the fetal heart rate? Gynecologists point out that this is actually not scientifically based. Because the content of fetal heart monitoring examination is the curve of the monitoring graph formed by signal tracing the instantaneous changes of fetal heart rate, it is possible to understand the reaction of the fetal heart rate during fetal movement and uterine contraction, so as to infer whether the fetus in the uterus is suffering from hypoxia. The normal fetal heart rate is between 120 beats/minute and 160 beats/minute. If the fetal heart rate remains <120/minute or >160/minute for more than 10 minutes, it indicates that the fetal heart rate is abnormal.

The condition of the pregnant woman herself also affects the changes in the fetal heart rate. For example, if the pregnant woman has a fever, the fetal heart rate will often exceed 160 beats/minute. If the pregnant woman has hyperthyroidism, her own heart rate is very fast, and the fetal heart rate will often exceed 160 beats/minute. If the pregnant woman takes certain medications, such as salbutamol taken during premature delivery to preserve the fetus, or atropine, it can cause the mother and child's heart rate to accelerate. A slow fetal heart rate may be caused by fetal hypoxia, but sometimes pregnant women take certain medications, such as propranolol, which act on the fetus through the placenta and cause the fetal heart rate to slow down.
